As the country’s first seaside resort Scarborough offers the warmest of Yorkshire welcomes.


The town’s seafront features award winning safe, sheltered, golden sandy beaches, a fantastic new harbour marina and superb restaurants cafes and bars.  Historical gems include Scarborough’s medieval castle and the recently redeveloped Rotunda Museum  telling the story of the Dinosaur Coast and the creatures who roamed along it hundreds of millions of years ago.


Scarborough Art Gallery features works by artists that include Atkinson Grimshaw, H B Carter and Lord Leighton, many of which depict the local area.  The Gallery also stages an exciting programme of special exhibitions by both up and coming and established contemporary artists.

Among the town’s award winning parks and gardens is the oriental themed Peasholm Park with it’s striking Pagoda and waterfall feature.  The park is home to rare and specimen tree varieties and is illuminated in the evening with coloured lighting just as when it was first opened in 1912.


Day or night, a lively programme of events, festivals and entertainment are on offer in venues like the beautiful Victorian Spa complex, which hosts the town’s annual Jazz Festival, and the Stephen Joseph Theatre home of renowned playwright Alan Ayckbourn.  When it comes to shopping Scarborough provides all your usual high-street favourites along with some unique boutiques and craft shops for that perfect holiday memento.
