There is an interesting mixture of traditional gardens and modern contemporary features right across the region. For a traditional garden, take a visit to Constable Burton Hall Gardens. Set in beautiful countryside at the entrance to Wensleydale, this extensive romantic garden is surrounded by 18th Century Parkland.  Fine trees and woodland walks combine with an interesting collection of alpines and extensive shrubs and roses.

For a contrast, you will find a masterpiece at The Walled Gardens, Scampston.  Created by the internationally renowned designer Piet Oudolf, the garden is unashamedly modern but perfectly complements Scampston Hall and Park.

And not too far a way, a truely relaxing experience awaits you at Yorkshire Lavender, the North of England's Premier Lavender Farm, Gardens and Herb Nursery. Set in a spectacular hillside farm of nearly 60 acres, within the Howardian Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. 

 

For an indoor experience with a difference, the Winter Gardens in Sheffield are a must! One of the largest temperate glasshouses to be built in the UK during the last hundred years has created a stunning green word in the heart of the city. There are more than 2,500 plants from around the world creating a superb display.
