Leyburn

Leyburn is a small attractive market town in the heart of Wensleydale. Wensleydale is an exceptionally scenic area that has been the captured in many stories and films. 

Over the years Leyburn has developed into the traditional centre for shopping and trade within mid Wensleydale and therefore is a good centre for all types of shops.  The visitor can experience the towns very own chocolatier, the tea pottery and craft workshops. Within the town there are many independent shops and galleries offering a wide range of goods. 

The Wensleydale Railway offers regular services to take you along Wensleydale. A few miles away is The Forbidden Corner a unique labyrinth of tunnels and chambers which will keep you entertained all day. 

Throughout the year the town hosts numerous events, with the highlight being the annual dales Festival of Food and Drink. The show celebrates Dales’ local produce and crafts and also provides fun for all the family throughout the day, a great way to spend May Day Bank Holiday. 

If you are looking for a bit of peace and relaxation take the short walk to ‘Leyburn Shawl’, an ideal place to observe the amazing views over Wensleydale.
