Why not get away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life and head to the coast. While blowing the cobwebs away you will discover of one of Britain’s great undiscovered treasures.
The Yorkshire coast has more than 100 miles of amazingly varied shoreline to explore. So you can find all the secluded coves, sandy beaches and pretty fishing villages you could ever want.
There’s everyone’s favourite type of seaside somewhere along Yorkshire’s wonderful coast.
Why not embrace tradition and head to Bridlington, where you will find flat golden sand stretching away for as far as the eye can see. It’s a remarkable beach that runs all the way to Spurn Head’s unique spit of land marking the mouth of the Humber. You’ll feel inspired to run, walk, play, dig... or just sit and eat ice cream.
There’s a different sense of freedom further north around Flamborough Head where towering cliffs form inspiring seascapes. From spectacular clifftop paths watch the foaming waves crash against this massive natural wall while hundreds of seabirds wheel noisily around ancient smugglers’ caves and tiny hidden coves.
Whatever you do at the seaside, you’ll find along the Yorkshire coast. Look for fossils on the Dinosaur Coast, learn to surf at Scarborough or take a fishing trip from Filey. And you’ll never forget the steep steps from Whitby’s fishing harbour to the romantic ruined abbey high above. You’ll be walking in the footsteps of adventurer Captain Cook… and Count Dracula.
