Plus many, many more....
The chance for enthusiasts around the world to bid for ‘once-in-a-lifetime’ experiences at the UK’s top heritage and cultural attractions is here again, in the 2008 series of TopLots auctions: raising funds and profile for museums and heritage organisations across the country by auctioning exceptional experiences…on eBay for Charity.
The diversity of Britain’s heritage attractions will again be represented: an extraordinary range of heritage and cultural organisations large and small, across the country, will offer exclusive and unusual experiences, uniquely available to bid for on eBay. Already the National Trust, and English Heritage are entering lots, alongside independent museums, galleries, houses and gardens. And funds raised go directly to the organisations themselves to help support their heritage activities.
The super ‘All Heritage’ Spring TopLots auction runs from THURSDAY 15th MAY to SUNDAY 15th JUNE and include within it Museums and Galleries (as part of Museums and Galleries Month); Historic Houses, Castles, Cathedrals and Gardens; and Transport and Steam.
These TopLots 08 auctions follow the success of the pilot auction in October 2007, when 61 diverse organisations took part, offering 127 exceptional heritage experiences.
People from around the world bid for ‘behind-the-scenes’ tours; opportunities to meet curators, celebrities and famous families; participation in re-enactments; undertaking unusual hands-on activities and learning new skills.
Successful bidders came from Alaska, California, the Netherlands and France as well as the UK. Tammy Windsor from Alaska (pictured) came to Yorkshire as part of her first ever trip to the UK, to take up her successful bid to spend a day with Sir Thomas Ingilby at Ripley Castle: "It was one of the best experiences of my life" she said.

Lots are being added all the time.

The timing of the lots is arranged between the venue and successful bidders – but must take place within a year of the auctions.
This Spring TopLots auction is being featured by eBay as an innovative example of the fundraising that can take place on the new soon-to-be-launched improved eBay for Charity site, which has been 2 years in the refining and will be even easier for bidders to use. This is being rolled out by eBay in the UK and US from mid May.
