Skipton

Skipton Castle

Skipton is a small and friendly market town, steeped in history and known as ‘The Gateway to the Dales’.

There is something for everyone in the town as it hosts a vast array of shops, including Craven Court, an indoor shopping arcade bursting with small independent shops.  There are numerous pubs and restaurants and a selection of cafes and tea rooms.

The Leeds - Liverpool Canal runs through the centre of the town and offers the visitor a nice relaxing stroll along the banks or the opportunity to board a traditional narrow boat and float along the waters.

There is also the opportunity to explore Skipton Castle; experience over 900 years of turbulent history within the walls.  Behind the castle a leisurely walk can be enjoyed whilst walking through the woodland.

The Millennium Walk takes in the main sights in the town whilst exploring some of the lesser known nooks and crannies.  Skipton has many cobbled alleys just waiting to be explored.

Skipton is called The Gateway for a good reason; use it as a base for easy access to the northern, eastern and western Dales.
