In 1990, Yorkshire Tourist Board created the White Rose Awards for Tourism awards to recognise and reward tourism in Yorkshire. Ever since then, the awards have become an annual event, which showcase the best of what Yorkshire has to offer visitors, focusing on the quality of visitor experience whatever the size of the tourism operation.

A White Rose Award for Tourism is a prestigious accolade and winners are chosen for their commitment to quality, excellence and customer service by a panel of independent industry professionals.

They promote healthy industry competition and high standards, helping to ensure England's place as a world-class destination.

When the Enjoy England for Excellence Awards were announced earlier this year, two of Yorkshire’s accommodation finalists picked up awards.

Ashwall House in Bulmer, York picked up a Gold Award for it’s self catering accommodation and Moorlands Country House in Levisham, near Pickering picked up a Silver Award for it’s B&B / Guest Accommodation.

The 2007 White Rose Awards for Tourism will be announced later this year during the 18th annual gala and award ceremony.
