Brontë Country has much to offer the visitor. The historic village of Haworth, with its quaint Main Street, provides a selection of intriguing shops, cafes, restaurants and pubs, as well as un-missable attractions such as the Brontë Parsonage Museum. The original home of the renowned literary family is preserved as it would have been in their day, and contains many of their original possessions.
One of the best ways to admire the rolling hills, moors and dales is to take a ride on the Keighley & Worth Valley Railway. This steam railway runs from Keighley to Oxenhope, taking in Oakworth Station, the location used for the 1970s film classic ‘The Railway Children’.
There are also a great selection of museums and stately homes in the surrounding area. Visit Cliffe Castle Museum or East Riddlesden Hall, an atmospheric 17th century manor house, in nearby Keighley.
Vintage transport enthusiasts will also not be disappointed with the Keighley Bus Museum and the Ingrow Loco and the Ingrow Museum of Rail Travel.
Haworth is also surrounded by magnificent countryside including the South Pennine moorland around Haworth, Oxenhope and Keighley. Take a self-guided walk to Top Withens, thought to be the inspiration of the classic novel Wuthering Heights.
