Deliciouslyorkshire keeps food and drink local

Cookery Shows

Deliciouslyorkshire will be celebrating the 150th anniversary of the Great Yorkshire Show style by showcasing a packed line-up of 32 Yorkshire food heroes, along with inspirational daily cookery demonstrations and tutorials by some of the region's finest producers and chefs at the Deliciouslyorkshire Cookery Theatre.

From world-famous award-winning cheeses and traditional fruity bracks to spicy authentic curries, there's a  great Yorkshire flavour to suit all tastes, as well as tick all the boxes for low food miles, freshness and traceability - and support the local economy.

Deliciouslyorkshire's eclectic taste of Yorkshire will include such favourites as award-winning meaty local sausages and pork pies, delicate Wolds lamb and omega-rich venison, alongside modern takes on traditional favourites such as vibrant rapeseed oil, Yorkshire's answer to olive oil, mouth-watering breads and patisserie.

Make sure you pick up a copy of Deliciouslyorkshire's recipe cards which will not only give you a step-by-step guide to creating a delicious local dish, but also the opportunity to enter the latest online competition (at http://www.deliciouslyorkshire.co.uk/) to win a range of prizes from dinner, bed and breakfast at The White Swan at Pickering, a champagne tea at 17 Burgate to a luxurious breakfast hamper full of freshly baked goodies, muesli and freshly pressed apple juice from Side Oven Bakery.  The full range of recipes (ten in all) will be available to collect in The Yorkshire Post in July and from Deliciouslyorkshire at shows throughout the year.

Consumers seeking out delicious seasonal Yorkshire produce can do no better than get their hands on a copy of the Deliciouslyorkshire Guide to Food and Drink - an essential guide to the very best of Yorkshire and Humber produce, as well as inspiring recipes and food maps for planning an appetising day out.

Deliciouslyorkshire Cookery Theatre

Great Yorkshire ShowFollowing the success of last year's Deliciouslyorkshire Cookery Theatre in association with the Yorkshire Agricultural Society, this year will see another exciting programme of demonstrations and tutorials by some of the region's finest producers, all hosted by TV cook Annie Stirk. See the full timetable at http://www.deliciouslyorkshire.co.uk/.

For many years a right-hand woman to a number of Britain's celebrity chefs, Annie's informal style instils kitchen confidence to 'have a go' and make cooking easy.  Highlights will include cheese-making from Wensleydale Creamery, pie crimping from Toppings Pies, beer sampling from Wold Top and Rooster breweries and demonstrations from top local chefs Andrew Pern of the Michelin-starred Star Inn at Harome and Stephanie Moon, head chef of the acclaimed Clocktower at Rudding Park.
