Pateley Bridge is set in the heart of Nidderdale, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
The town prides itself on its craft centres, charming pubs and country tea-rooms and the friendliness of the local people. To find out about the history of the Dale visit Nidderdale Museum housed in the original Victorian workhouse.
At the head of Nidderdale is Gouthwaite reservoir, a bird sanctuary and the reservoirs of Scar and Angram. This area forms some of the most spectacular landscapes in the area of Nidderdale.
In between Harrogate and Pateley Bridge lies Brimham Rocks, this is a fascinating spectacle of natural rock formations in weird and wonderful shapes surrounded by breathtaking views across the Yorkshire Dales.
Another attraction close to Pateley Bridge is How Stean Gorge, often called 'Yorkshire's Little Switzerland'. The gorge itself has a dramatic limestone cleft, which plummets as far as 80 feet in some places with bridges and pathways providing a variety of walks.
One of the largest attractions every year is the Nidderdale Show, a large agricultural show held in September.
