The Experience
Geocaching is a form of treasure hunting using GPS receivers and OS maps to locate hidden boxes. They usually contain a log book for you to record your find and trade items for you to swap - back home or at one of our National Park Centres, log your find here
Have a go
Mid-Feb or mid-October - not too many 'muggles' (non-geocachers) around to spoil your fun but fabulous crisp frosty mornings with great views of the hills
Click here for basic information. GPS receivers can be hired from Grassington and Hawes National Park Centres along with a beginner's geocaching leaflet (starts Easter 2008). If you get the bug then buy a GPS receiver for around £80 plus OS maps of your chosen area. Waypoints for geocaches can be automatically downloaded onto your GPS receiver from special computers at Malham and Grassington National Park Centres (from Easter 2008)
