Whitby to Scarborough Cycle Route

Whitby to Scarborough Cycle Route

Week 43 - On Wheels

Cycle along the clifftops, Tony BartholomewLevel of Fitness
Blue. A few climbs and rockier sections make this ideal for families wanting a little more adventure.

The Experience
Simply one of the most spectacular off-road trails in the North, running alongside the Yorkshire Heritage Coast.  A mixture of good cinder tracks and some rockier sections make this a good route for more adventurous families.  Although primarily along a former railway line the route does have a number of climbs and descents.

From Scarborough the route is generally up hill to Ravenscar, the highest point on the route.  From here the track drops down to Robins Hood Bay before entering Whitby over the spectacular Larpool viaduct. 18 miles (29km) one way.

Cycle to WhitbyHave a go
It is worth waiting for good weather to really enjoy the views from this route, and there are so many places to see and stop at along the way it is good to be able to take your time.
