If you think that Yorkshire's heritage consists of a few ruined abbeys, churches and castles, then think again. This Summer, English Heritage is helping visitors to understand not only what life was like within the Abbey walls, but also how these landmark sites really influenced the whole look of the region for many hundreds of years.

So, as part of experiencing Yorkshire's Outdoor Adventures, we invite you to explore the region on foot, bike, horse or by car to follow ancient paths and see a whole new side of historic Yorkshire.

There are several levels of difficulty, depending on whether you are looking for an afternoon stroll, or a challenging day of riding. And we've also got some more unexpected outdoor surprises, from looking at the nature that moved into the historic ruins when man moved out, to enjoying some of the finest al fresco theatre in the country!
