1 Your Account

No tricks, just treats!

There is always lots going on in Yorkshire and on Halloween it is no different. Zombies, ghosts, witches and goblins will be out in force this Halloween at events across Yorkshire. From a spooky pumpkin trail to a twilight ghost cruise, and from firework spectaculars to fire jugglers, there's plenty to frighten the whole family. So grab your broomsticks, sharpen your vampire fangs and polish your cauldrons.

Events in North Yorkshire

To confirm its position as the Home of Halloween, the York Dungeon has launched a brand new spine-chilling show, Body Snatchers. This new hair-raising show will see one of the most intimidating, ghoulish, characters ever introduced. Equipped with his prize possession, his shovel, John will be looking for those that can fall victim to his deadly digging ways!

All manner of creepy ghouls and beasties lurk within the Valley, so make sure you tread scarefully! You can choose from and experience a whole host of Mini, Mega and Ultimate scares but remember... the darker the night, the scarier the fright!

Have some frightful family fun this Halloween at Ripley Castle. On October 29th, 30th & 31st younger children aged 5 to 8 years will be thrilled to meet Ripley Castle's very own Kind Witch and listen to her storytelling in the castle's spooky Tower Room.

At Richmondshire Museum, design a pumpkin, puzzles, colouring, book-making, spot the Halloween silhouettes and much more . . . with the chance to win a family season ticket and ghoulish gift.

NYMR are working with the exceptional team from Make A Wish Entertainment again this spooky Halloween with three fangtastic Halloween Story Trains on Friday 30th & Saturday 31st October. Each Story Train will depart from Pickering Station with live characters on-board bringing our unique Story Trains to life.

The origins or York Maze Hallowscream lie in a Victorian circus with a dark secret, a crazed clown, a troubled inventor and a farmer seeking a terrible revenge. For nine nights only, York Maze becomes your worst nightmare. Hallowscream is an advance ticket only night time event for teenagers and adults who should really know better!!

Join York's Chocolate Story for spook-tacular shock-olate tasting sessions. Courageous visitors can test their nerve by taking part in the tastiest trick or treat challenge ever. Guests will test their luck by spinning the ‘wheel of fortune' to receive either a deliciously tasty treat or a revolting rotten trick chocolate.

Are you feeling brave? Dress in your scariest outfit and join us for an harrowing ghost tour of Bolton Castle revealing stories of the spooky sightings within the castle walls which will send shivers down your spine! With live musical entertainment from Josh Westwood and band.

A delightfully gruesome trail of ghosts, ghouls, monsters and body parts, taking you off into the woods!! Not for the faint-hearted!

From witches to warlocks, faeries to trolls, wandering through Mother Shipton's Cave this Halloween Half Term truly is full of wonder and surprise! After the roaring success of last years Halloween Half Term event, Mother Shipton's are ramping up the spooky factor this year, ensuring that every visitor has a petrifying visit!

Haunted maze, Freaky face painting, Haunted barn, Fancy dress, Lamb feeding with Farmer Dracula! Pumpkin carving & much more! Special daily activities!

Get the whole family into the spirit of Halloween by heading to The Garden Rooms, for a week of daily Halloween activities that will include ‘Dress your own Pumpkin' (for which there will be a daily prize), Mask Making, Decorating Cupcakes and so much more. With a room transformed into a spooky delight there will be plenty to keep all ages entertained. Fancy Dress is highly encouraged.

Cast light on a dark history! See Bram Stoker's inspiration in a new light as Whitby Abbey is bathed in dramatic illuminations. As you explore its gothic splendour, our costumed characters will introduce the darker side of the past with tales of grave robbing and witch trials. New for this year, you can also experience a live performance of Dracula to complete your visit.

Throughout Half Term, families are invited to follow the Pumpkin Trail around the gardens and parkland, solving a puzzle as they go. On Friday 30th October, 11am - 3pm, Pumpkin carving and Halloween lantern-making will take place in the Conservatory. Children and parents are invited to create the scariest pumpkins they can muster! On Saturday 31st October, families are invited to join Scampston's resident Wicked Witch in the Walled Garden at 3pm. She has some tales to tell which will send a shiver down your spine! Tasty treats will be offered for the scariest costumes.

This October half term, visit Murton Park and meet their very own celebrity witch, none other than Minerva Lune, Witch to the Stars. Minerva will be on site on Wednesday and Thursday and has graciously agreed to share a tale or two with visitors at 11:00 am, and 2:30 pm on both days!

Reserve a cottage or The Lake House between 24th - 31st October and book one of our Dracula Butlers. Dracula Butlers will decorate your cottage or The Lake House in gothic & Halloween style memorabilia. Once they've helped you in, then treat yourself to a Bloody MAry cocktail & a Halloween Afternoon Tea!

The Bram Stoker International Film Festival, working in association with the Whitby Dracula Society 1897, will be hosting a series of special events to mark this auspicious occasion. The Annual Bram Stoker International Film Festival (now in its 7th year) featuring five days of films, music and entertainment, including the now world famous Vampires Ball. A unique event that consistently attracts fans from around the globe.

Come along to this FREE Halloween event at Coppergate Shopping Centre! With events taking place throughout the day this is something you don't want to miss! They'll be Face painting (12-4pm), Stilt walkers (12-3pm) and a Magician (1-5pm) plus there will also be a live graffiti artist throughout the day creating a spooky piece of art for all to enjoy in front of what will be the new Primark.

Events in East Yorkshire

  • Lost Treasure of The Deep,  24 October - 2 November
  • Ahoy matey! Join The Deep this October half term as they go on the trail for lost treasure. Enjoy a whole host of pirate themed activities including the family treasure trail, ‘arrrts' and crafts, face painting and badge making. Don't forget to look out for the amazing inhabitants on your way round, including penguins, sawfish, stingrays and turtles, but make sure you watch out for the sharks!

    Enter the spooktacular world of ghouls and ghosts this Halloween! Expect things to go bump in the night with pumpkin parties, trick or treating, fancy dress competitions, pumpkin carving and spooky trails!

    Spooky Woodland Trail awaits brave visitors at Burton Agnes Hall! If you're feeling brave this half term, why not venture over to Burton Agnes Hall and take part in the fantastically spooky woodland trail! Intrepid visitors are invited on an eerie hunt round the Hall's atmospheric woodland, where clues are hidden amidst spooky Halloween scenes of witches, spiders and ghostly figures.

    Join Burton Constable for a SPOOKTACULAR TIME during October half-term! Follow the Spooky Trail around the grounds, take part in creepy craft activities and enjoy terrible tricks and treats. Plenty of fiendish fun for all the family!

    Events in West Yorkshire

    Stockeld Park opens its doors for the Halloween adventure on the 21st October which is packed with Special spooky events including, Bewitching tales in the forest. They have kept their popular Halloween events like Halloween catwalk and the very scary Fright night only for the brave hearted! For younger ones they have a range of events including Special Halloween, face painting and craft area. Their Wizard and Magic Hatter will also be appearing over the Halloween Season, with magic and stories to tell.

    Yorkshire Scare Grounds Scream Park is the most extreme Halloween Entertainment Park and Scare Attraction Experience in Yorkshire. Bigger, Better & Scarier for Halloween 2014, the attraction combines special effects and live actors to immerse the audience in a most terrifying encounter that will leave them screaming for more! Just minutes from Wakefield, Leeds & Barnsley & centrally located in Yorkshire the attraction is one huge multi-element scare experience.

    Don't be scared.....come and immerse yourself in the chilling history of Standedge Tunnel. Make the most of halloween and head down to Standedge Tunnel & Visitor Centre for a thrilling experience for all the family.

    They've got plenty of spooky goings on at Totties & you can be part of the Halloween fun. Come along to their party at The Olive Tree at Totties & enjoy all Pumpkin carving, a dressing up competition and craft activities. Plus there's mulled wine or a Halloween cocktail for parents!

    The place will be buzzing and the atmosphere amazing. This is such a feel good family event with children, parents and grandparents all out together, MAGICAL!!! Watch out his year for Spookley the Square Pumpkin.

    Gather round this half term and listen as the storytellers recount the exploits of brave warriors in epic battles, often pitted against terrifying monsters or plagued by terrible curses. Discover Greek myths, Viking legends and Anglo-Saxon epic poems at our daily storytelling sessions. Get your hands on some related arms and armour, plus have a go at warrior combat skills.

    Are you brave enough to step inside the Quarantine Zone at Thackray Medical Museum this Halloween? As the lights are turned down, you are invited to enter the Zombie infested museum and explore the galleries after dark and after hours. Quarantine: Zombie Fright Night is an interactive event that is sure to terrify and delight in equal measure. For one night only, the museum will be overrun by disease-ridden Zombies who will lurk behind corners ready to pounce on their unsuspecting victims.

    During October half term Yummy Yorkshire's ‘Spooky Barn' will host LOTS of fun events...so put on your winter woollies and join them for some creepy Halloween fun!

    Join us on the spookiest night of the year for a Dance you won't forget! The Carding Shed Presents: A Halloween Dance with the Revolutionaries + DJ Windy! A Sizzlin' Hot 1950's R&B and RnR combo! ‘Scorchin' a Trail Across the Land'

    Why not leave the crowds behind and celebrate Bonfire Night with family and friends in a safe environment? Gateways School will be holding its annual Firework Extravanganza on Thursday 5th November from 6pm - 8pm. As well as a spectacular fireworks display by Ignite Pyrotechnics and an awesome bonfire, hot food, drinks and sticky treats will also be available to purchase.     Events in South Yorkshire

    A unique event not to be missed! Fancy dress is highly encouraged, so why not come dressed...to KILL! With murder on the menu, guests are potential super sleuths looking for means, motive and opportunity. In your search for the truth you will uncover clues as well as the inevitable red herring or two. Who committed murder and why? Who had the most to gain? Join in the fiendish fun!

    Don't miss the Tropical Butterfly House's biggest and best event of the year! Take a Haunted Hayride through the Freaky Forest and come face to face with ghosts, ghouls and monsters. Visit the Creepy Cottage and play Trick or Treat on the Witch, and brave the Haunted House... Take a seat for the pantomime-style free-flying Bird Shows, featuring amazing birds of prey and parrots; hosted by zombie pirates!

    This Halloween half term join Brodsworth Hall for frightening fun, with have-a-go creepy crafts and spooky activities. Meet their Victorian undertaker for secrets of the past and storytelling of scary tales.

    One of Cannon Hall Farm's most popular weeks of the year is the Autumn half term featuring the Pumpkin Festival. Your job is to design the perfect spooky face for your pumpkin and they'll carve out those toothy grins for you. Their expert Pumpkin carvers will do the hard work!Halloween

    Come and explore the Creepy Teepees where you'll find the Witches Den, Terrifying Trail, Creepy Craft area and you can even visit the Spooky Salon for a halloween make-over. There will be lots more in store, so prepare yourself for a ghoulish time. Far Out Theatre and Buzz Sheffield will be joining them for the week and there will be daily activities throughout the week in the giant teepees on the lawn, something for everyone to enjoy.
