1 Your Account

There is always lots going on in Yorkshire and on Halloween it is no different. Zombies, ghosts, witches and goblins will be out in force this Halloween at events across Yorkshire. From a spooky pumpkin trail to a twilight ghost cruise, and from firework spectaculars to fire jugglers, there's plenty to frighten the whole family. So grab your broomsticks, sharpen your vampire fangs and polish your cauldrons.

Events in North Yorkshire

With terrifying live action horror mazes and hair-raising frightmare zones, as well as gruesome Halloween shows and blood-curdling inhabitants, watch light turn to dark as the valley becomes shrouded in a menacing cloak of supernatural delight!

This Halloween, York's CHOCOLATE Story will be holding spook-tacular shock-olate tasting sessions. Courageous visitors can test their nerve by taking part in the tastiest trick or treat challenge ever. Guests will test their luck by spinning the ‘wheel of fortune' to receive either a deliciously tasty treat or a revolting rotten trick chocolate!

That's right, Halloween is York Dungeon's FAVOURITE holiday. This year an ALL NEW character, The Master of Tricks will take up residence in the Dungeon to ensure the BIGGEST and boldest HALLOWEEN full of scary fun, mischief tricks and treats, gripping storytelling, jump through the roof surprises and pumpkins aplenty. Armed with his giant ‘The Wheel of Misfortune' The Master of Tricks will bamboozle guest with his wit and games of deception. Expect forfeits galore, dastardly dares and sense-ational surprises.

Experience the museum at night with our family fun Halloween evening party 6-8pm. There will be pumpkin carving and fancy dress competitions, children's crafts, themed food, apple bobbing & more!

Dare you enter the haunted castle and join us for our Spooky Spectacular event this Monday 27th October to Friday 31st. With spooky potion making, pumpkin Chinese lantern making, witch and wizard hat making and two spooky trails there is something for everyone to enjoy

A delightfully gruesome trail of ghosts, ghouls, monsters and body parts, taking you off into the woods!! Not for the faint-hearted!

Bloody scary, bloody noisy, bloody gory! Come in something bloody scary or you won't get bloody in! Fancy dress is compulsary with this great event. Strictly 18 over!

There couldn't be a better time to visit the eerie Mother Shipton's Cave and Petrifying Well. If you aren't turned to stone first, enjoy the fun with creepy crafts and activities with the witch in the woods, wizard tales, make your own magical wand, scary face painting and lots more!

In addition to theTheme Park & Zoo, there are a whole host of themed events, Halloween menus, tricks and treats for you to enjoy each day. Simply sneak on over to the Education Centre and you can demonstrate your pumpkin carving skills or try your hand at some devilish arts and crafts. Meet the meerkat mascots, Wizard Mylo and Mia the Witch down at Mischief Mansion. And, over at Riverside One, they've created a truly terrifying live show. So, don't forget to visit the all-weather stage to witness the Carnival of Horrors!

Spooky Trail in the woods, face painting, decorate a cupcake, learn about all the different animals we have here at Berry's, feed them and chance to take our Kune Kune pigs for a walk. 11am.

Events in East Yorkshire

  • Halloween at The Deep,  25 October - 2 November
  • Join us here at The Deep for a spooktacular Halloween 25th October - 2nd November! We have some amazing ghoulish crafts and activities to keep your little critters entertained this half term. Try our creepy critters trail, collect your trail sheet from the entrance turnstile then find the clues around The Deep, post your completed trail sheets into the entry box to be in with the chance of winning a very special cuddly toy.

    Stop by the Amazon Explorers Den between 11am and 4pm for some freaky face painting, choose from a ghoulish ghost, eerie pumpkin or a spooky spider if you dare! Visit our Cool Seas area from 11am - 4pm for some creepy craft activities including making a spooky key ring, a scary spider to take home or colour in your own creepy critters colouring in sheet!

    Come and visit Hornsea Freeport during the October half term for their Pumpkin Festival from the 25th - 31st October 2014 between 11am - 4pm. They have lots of Halloween activities happening. There will be a craft work shop, Halloween games & activities, face painting. You will be able to choose and carve your own pumpkin using a special pumpkin carving kit. Take part in the Freeport Halloween Spooky Trail! You can also take a ride on the Halloween style rodeo bull! Then, on the 31st October they will be holding a fancy dress competition too!

    Daring children are invited on an eerie hunt around haunted woodland. Carved pumpkins holding clues hide amongst spooky Halloween scenes of witches, spiders and ghouls!

    Join Burton Contable for a scary but fun evening of spooky tales about the many people who haunt this wonderful. This hugely popular event is never quite the same, will Dame Margaret walk the Long Gallery with you or will you feel the wagging tail of Bunter the family dog against your leg, or perhaps see the stable boy hiding in the shadows, who knows.

    Don't miss their Bonfire on 8 November too!

    Join local guide Paul Schofield and discover Beverley's chilling tales and gruesome stories with plenty of historical detail thrown in. Not for the faint-hearted!

    Events in West Yorkshire

    Stockeld Park opens its doors for the Halloween adventure on the 22nd of October which is packed with Special spooky events including, Bewitching tales in the forest and new for 2014 Wizard and Witch training taken place 27th - 29th of October. We have kept our popular Halloween events like Halloween catwalk and our very scary Fright night only for the brave hearted! For younger ones we have a range of events including Special Halloween, face painting and craft area. Our Wizard and Magic Hatter will also be appearing over the Halloween Season, with magic and stories to tell.

    Yorkshire Scare Grounds Scream Park is the most extreme Halloween Entertainment Park and Scare Attraction Experience in Yorkshire. Bigger, Better & Scarier for Halloween 2014, the attraction combines special effects and live actors to immerse the audience in a most terrifying encounter that will leave them screaming for more! Just minutes from Wakefield, Leeds & Barnsley & centrally located in Yorkshire the attraction is one huge multi-element scare experience.

    Eureka! is well and truly getting into the Halloween spirit this October half-term. Join the witches, wizards, ghosts and ghouls for a week of Halloween fun.

    • Shibden Halloween Walk, 31st October 6pm- 8pm

    Shibden's Halloween Walk around the spooky paths of Shibden Park and Hall. Be prepared for muddy paths (wear appropriate footwear and clothing) and for scary faces along the route, with fireworks and other entertainment. An entrance fee will be charged. Gates open from 6pm

    Spooky goings on at Standedge Tunnel! A range of Halloween themed activities happening at Standedge throughout the half term week. Look out for Fright Night on 31 October too. A spooky walk from Marsden Train Station to the visitor centre, followed by a spooky boat trip into the tunnel...there may be spooky goings on so beware!!!

    The place will be buzzing and the atmosphere amazing. This is such a feel good family event with children, parents and grandparents all out together, MAGICAL!!! Watch out his year for Spookley the Square Pumpkin.

    Fly down to the Royal Armouries Museum, Leeds this October half term if you dare, and prepare to be scared by a host of spooky horrors - from vampire-slaying tales to a thrilling stunt-riding horse show and what's set to be the biggest Halloween party in Yorkshire.

    Join the Discover Huddersfield team at our pop up stall in the LBT courtyard from 12-3pm and get involved in our outdoor pumpkin carving that will coincide with the 2pm family-friendly Shuddersfield Ghost Trail. For the 7pm & 9pm tours, join Rebecca Legg who will be dressed in her cape and have her Lantern and yours too!; ready for that spooky stroll around the town.

    Meet John Billingsley at 2.15 pm. by the West Gate (i.e. top gate) of Halifax Piece Hall. A two to two and a half hour walk exploring some of the darker and stranger incidents in Halifax's long, eventful history, from severed heads to ghostly revenants and much more . . .


    Head to Denby Dale's Yummy Yorkshire this October for a ‘fang-tastic' line up of family Halloween events! Taking place from October 27 to October 31, the dairy farm and ice cream parlour will play host to everything from spooky storytelling, to a fun disco.

    Events in South Yorkshire

    Encounter the exotic and the scary! Don't miss the Tropical Butterfly House's biggest and best event of the year! Take a Haunted Hayride through the Freaky Forest and come face to face with ghosts, ghouls and monsters. Visit the Creepy Cottage and play Trick or Treat on the Witch, and brave the Haunted House... Take a seat for the pantomime-style free-flying Bird Shows, featuring amazing birds of prey and parrots; hosted by zombie pirates!

    Victorian characters welcome you to the hall for some Halloween hell-raising...hear about strange happenings from the house and take part in creepy crafts and spooky activities. Meet our Victorian undertaker for secrets of the past and enchanting storytelling.

    Halloween is an exciting time of the year at Cannon Hall Farm. The annual pumpkin festival runs between the 25th October and 2nd November. During the week, thousands of pumpkins will be carved into some very scary lanterns. The kids can also enjoy Guy Fawkes mask making, sheep and ferret racing and bird of prey demonstrations.

    Fancy dress a must with this event! There will be a hot & cold themed buffet with Disco and kids entertainment. There is also a prize for best Fancy Dress!

    Keep children entertained this autumn as the centre prepares for a frightening visit from Reptacular Reptiles on Saturday 25th October. Little ones will be able to hold an exotic range of snakes, lizards and spiders, with free ghoulish face painting on offer for scary-faced little shoppers. Also 11-4pm little visitors aged up to ten years, can don dancing shoes and hit the spooky outdoor Halloween disco, complete with frightening musical games and a treasure hunt to get a free chocolate treat.
