Bingley Music Live at Myrtle Park

3rd - 5th September

Bingley Music Live is one of the Council's 'flagship events' attracting the single biggest gathering of people in the district exclusively for a musical event. Two headline acts confirmed for this year The Enemy & James. After last years sell-out event, another line up of stars and current festival acts are set to excite and entertain you live on stage at Bingley Music Live.

Ripon International Festival

4th - 23rd September

Annual music festival held at various venues in and around Ripon.

Bupa Great Yorkshire Run at Sheffield City Centre

5th September

The Bupa Great yorkshire Run may only have started in 2007 but is growing year-by-year. Join 10,000 runners of all abilities aged 15 years and over, to complete the 10k run in Sheffield. Entry is £26 and the closing date is 09:00 Tuesday 31st August

The St.Leger Festival, Doncaster Racecourse

8th - 11th September

The 2010 Ladbrokes St. Leger is the highlight of the year at Doncaster Racecourse and one of the most important festivals in British Racing. Every September the St. Leger is celebrated with four days of celebrations at Doncaster Racecourse. As well as top class racing, the Festival is also established as the most popular social gathering in South Yorkshire, continuing into the evening with events all across the town.

Saltaire Festival

9th - 19th September

The Saltiare Festival is a celebration of music, drama, arts, street markets and much more. This years festival will take place at the UNESCO World Heritage Site. There really is something to suit everyone.

Hull Freedom Festival

10th - 12th September

Hull is the city of freedom and what better way to celebrate this than the annual Freedom Festival - A live arts and music event that celebrates freedom in all its forms. There's lots to do for all the family.

Welcome to the Black Sheep Brewery Boots & Beer Walking Festival 2010

10th - 12th Sept

What could be better than a weekend of great walks, beautiful countryside, fantastic beer and excellent entertainment? The 9th annual Black Sheep Boots and Beer Walking Festival is set to be the biggest yet. With a jam packed programme to suit all levels of walkers, it is an event not to be missed!

Wild about Wood at The Arboretum, Kew at Castle Howard

11th - 12th September

Join in a weekend of wood related fun for the whole family at The Arboretum Trust, Kew at Castle Howard. Watch tree stump carving, be inspired by demonstrations of furniture making, admire the intricacies of willow weaving, help build then ride in a coracle, or have a go at tree-climbing! Take a break from all the excitement and enjoy some of the most delicious local food and drink, relax and listen to traditional English music, or indulge yourself with a purchase from a delectable selection of the finest arts and crafts. Also enjoy a short "taster tour" of the arboretum, or just glory in the tranquility and beauty of this very special place, tucked away in the Howardian Hills.

Saltaire Arts Trail

11th - 19th September

In the Saltaire Arts Trail 2010, you can wander the streets of the village and discover the ever-popular Open Houses: 6 residents’ houses transformed into unique temporary gallery spaces showcasing the finest art and craft from across Yorkshire. Amongst others, you’ll find Dionne Swift at 75 Albert Road, who was a featured artist at the Knitting and Stitching shows last year, and Liza Dracup at 10 Edward Street, whose solo show opened Impressions Gallery’s move to Bradford in 2007. We also have 2 exhibition houses, including Andy Abbott and Yvonne Carmichael at 44 Whitlam Street, Andy fresh from his recent weekend exhibiting in the Turbine Hall at Tate Modern. It is a treat walking across someone’s threshold not knowing what to expect and unearthing real treasures.

Rotherham Show

11th - 12th September

The largest free land show in the North of England returns to Clifton Park. A great day out for all the family with entertainment, music, horticultural displays, vintage vehicles, fun fair, stalls and refreshments.

England V Pakistan - 2nd ODI at Headingley Carnegie Stadium Yorkshire

12th September

Come and watch the stars of England and Pakistan in what is sure to be an action packed ODI. Following on from the test match series the ODI will feature big hitting stars such as Abdul Rassaq and Kevin Petersen, with up and coming players from Yorkshire like Adil Rashid making their mark.

Alfresco Parkland Autumn Food Festival at Swinton Park

12th September

Taste local produce in the parkland for a “grazing meal” take a gentle stroll in the grounds via the deer park, woodlands and walled garden, stopping off to sample the freshest seasonal dishes you can imagine, made using locally sourced ingredients. Attractions include demonstrations by food producers, a Cookery Demonstration Theatre and a Gourmet Retail Marquee, along with wild food and walled garden tours throughout the day and flying demonstrations from the Bird of Prey Centre.

York Food and Drink Festival

17th - 26th September

The theme for 2010 is 'Meet Yorkshire Food Heroes'. With 10 days full of activities, you are sure to find something to suit your taste! If you like the markets and demonstrations, there are over 100 stands and a rolling programme of demos on a daily basis and so much more.

Harrogate Flower Festival

17th - 19th September

Come and visit the Welcome to Yorkshire Rhubarb, Crumble and Custard Garden. Marvel at the enormous vegetables, taste the juicy plums and admire the fabulous flowers throughout the show.

Scarborough Jazz Festival

24th - 26th September

The festival always tries to put on a fresh and balanced programme and unashamedly relies heavily on the plethora of outstanding British musicians - the legendary Georgie Fame, Clare Teal, international star pianist Julian Joseph, the world's greatest jazz guitarist are just some of the highlights from previous years. 2010 Will provide high quality entertainment, contrast, variety, accessibility, innovation - and fun!

Masham Sheep Fair

25th - 26th September

On the last weekend in September the large market square in Masham is full of sheep for the annual sheep fair. In days gone by this was the major sale of breeding stock - sheep bred on the uplands were bought by farmers across the country. Today the sheep fair is more about showing sheep than selling, although some are still sold at the end of the weekend. There are also sheep races and a host of stalls and other amusements at this rural gathering a fun day out for all the family.

SMARTART Gallery, Sheffield

25th September

Make sure you don't miss this exciting exhibition as veteran television star Rolf Harris celebrates A Life in Art with an exclusive exhibition at Sheffield's SmartArt Galleries next month. The collection of signed limited editions and sculptures opens at the gallery in Baslow Road, Totley, on September 25 and marks not only Rolf's 80th birthday but also commemorates his 65 years as one of the nation's most popular and well-known artists.
