BUPA Great Yorkshire Run (5 Sept 2010)
The Bupa Great Yorkshire Run may only have started in 2007 but it is growing year-by-year. Join 10,000 runners of all abilities aged 15 years and over, to complete the 10k run in Sheffield. Entry is £26 and the closing date is Friday 20 August
Black Sheep Boots & Beer Festival, Hawes (10-12 Sept 2010)
What could be better than a weekend of great walks, beautiful countryside, fantastic beer and excellent entertainment? The 9th annual Black Sheep Boots and Beer Walking Festival is set to be the biggest yet. The jam packed programme includes a choice of 14 superb walks over the weekend, ranging from short to long, specially written by Mark Reid, author of 'The Inn Way' books.
360 Extreme Sports Festival at the Welcome to Yorkshire Open Air Theatre, Scarborough (17-19 Sept 2010)
THIS EVENT HAS BEEN CANCELLED
Extreme sports beside the sea, including the Official Pro Surf Tour and extreme crazy golf, and extreme Ironing competition, which are both open to all. It will also host a "2 day beach clean" with goodie bags for those returning rubbish to the recycle point. The Festival is supporting the environmental campaign group Surfers Against Sewage (SAS), which has campaigned for over 20 years for cleaner water & beaches.
South Pennines Walk & Ride Festival (11-26 Sept 2010)
Experience some of the amazing natural and cultural heritage of the South Pennines at more than 100 events - walks of all descriptions, cycle and horse rides, evening talks and themed events. Download the programme.
Pately Bridge Walking Festival (23-26 Sept 2010)
Also new for 2010, come and enjoy a range of walks centred around the historic market town of Pateley Bridge, a Walkers are Welcome town. The festival has three walks to choose from each day - easy, moderate and strenuous. There will be a number of special interest walks looking at Nidderdale's social, industrial and natural history. Evening entertainment is also planned with a ceilidh on the Saturday night in Pateley Bridge Memorial Hall and a talk from Mark Reid of the award-winning 'The Inn Way' series.
Richmond Walking & Book Festival (24 Sept-3 Oct 2010)
Combines walks with music, talks and other literary events. Enjoy 35 guided walks through Swaledale & Wensleydale, including 11 new walks for 2010. Savour short guided walks round the town and castle, ghost walks, woodland strolls and J M W Turner's Richmond. Relax with music, talks, slide shows and films; the Book Festival will have writers, authors, poets and performers.
3 Peaks Cyclo-Cross (26 Sept 2010)
The 3 Peaks Cyclo-Cross is staged in the Yorkshire Dales National Park every year at the end of September. It is the toughest and biggest Cyclo-Cross event in the UK. This is your only chance to ride to the top of the Three Peaks as most of the off-road sections are over footpaths and/or private land. This means that no training on a cycle is allowed on those sections - it is illegal to ride on their except on the day of the race.

Make a weekend of it and choose from many award winning adventure films, featuring climbing and other adventure sports.
Three Peaks Fell Race (30 April 2011)
The Three Peaks Race, which traverses the famous Yorkshire Dales mountains of Pen-y-ghent, Ingleborough and Whernside, has a great reputation as one of the oldest, most famous and best organised fell races in Britain.
First run in 1954, it covers 24 miles of the most rugged and spectacular countryside in the Yorkshire Dales National Park, taking competitors to a height of 2,500 feet above sea level.
UCI Mountain Bike XCO World Cup, Dalby Forest (21-22 May 2011)
Following the success of the first ever world cup in Yorkshire in 2010, Dalby Forest will once again host a round of the UCI Cross Country Mountain Bike World Cup in 2011. This cements Dalby Forest's and Yorkshire's growing reputation as one of the best mountain biking destinations in the world.
Join us for another fantastic family weekend next year. In 2011 cycling fans can expect to see the return of the Pro Sprint Eliminator and Dalby Dare and spectators will get an even better experience of watching the event and enjoying the entire weekend.
Etape du Dales cycle ride (May 2011)
The Etape is held in May each year with entries opening in early January. The route is 175km (110 miles) long and has around 3,500m of climbing including many famous ascents: Fleets Moss, Buttertubs Pass, Tan Hill (the highest pub in England), Mallerstang, the Coal Road, Newby Head and Halton Gill. The reward is great Dales scenery and the satisfaction of completing one of the hardest cyclosportives in the country.
Otley Walking Festival (June-July 2011)
Celebrating its 11th anniversary in 2011, Otley Walking Festival will have a wide range of walks and evening events for you to enjoy.
Cliffhanger, Millhouses Park, Sheffield (2-3 July 2011)
