Ade Edmondson returns to roots for new Dales TV series
Story Published: 27 August 2010
Yorkshire-born comic Ade Edmondson took centre stage in the Dales as part of filming for a fly-on-the-wall TV series.
The 53-year-old, who was born in Bradford, will front new ITV show The Dales which follows on from hugely successful The Lakes which pulled in 4.3m viewers.
Backed by Welcome to Yorkshire, The Dales will centre around local characters and life in the glorious Yorkshire countryside.
Ade was in the Yorkshire Dales last week to film his part of the series and will be back in September for the final shoot.
Programme producers remain tight-lipped about who has been picked to feature in The Dales as well as the storylines.
But some of the series has been filmed at the exclusive luxury castle hotel Swinton Park, in Masham, near Ripon.
Felicity Cunliffe - Lister, owner of Swinton Park, said: "We think it's going to be great for us in that it shows us not just being a hotel in the Yorkshire Dales but also how much the hotel plays a part in the local community and economy.
"Hopefully they have got lots of nice shots of the fabulous scenery and have brought the Dales to life showing that there's lots to do in Yorkshire - whatever the weather!"
Welcome to Yorkshire was inundated with offers from businesses all clamouring to get involved in the series after it announced plans to support the series at the Y10 conference earlier this year.
The Y10 event, attended by 1,500 people, was held to boost Yorkshire's profile in a bid to attract more visitors.
Gary Verity, Chief Executive of Welcome to Yorkshire, said: "When we announced plans to support The Dales, we were met with an overwhelming response from local people who are truly proud of what Yorkshire has to offer.
"From hotel owners offering to host the film crew, to a local musician offering to compose the theme music, this project has really inspired the people of Yorkshire.
"This is a great chance to show off The Yorkshire Dales which is an absolute jewel in our region.
"Viewers cannot fail to be impressed by what we have to offer and we hope that this will bring even more visitors to Yorkshire and help make us the number one UK tourist destination."
The television series will hit our screens early next year.
