The sky's the limit for Yorkshire's tourism stars
Published: 28 April 2011
The search for Yorkshire's tourism stars is on. Welcome to Yorkshire is inviting tourism businesses from across the county to enter the White Rose Awards 2011, Yorkshire's biggest and most spectacular tourism awards.
The awards highlight the shining stars in Yorkshire tourism at a glittering black-tie ceremony. Referred to as the Oscars of the tourism industry, this year there are 16 categories and for a selection of White Rose Awards winners there will be the exciting opportunity to compete on a national scale as they go through to the Enjoy England Awards for Excellence 2012.
Gary Verity, chief executive of Welcome to Yorkshire, said: "It's been an amazing start to the season with many businesses telling us they are taking more bookings than last year, which is indicative of the quality of tourism services we have in Yorkshire. The White Rose Awards recognise those businesses which aim for excellence and are proud to offer visitors to Yorkshire that something extra special. So whether you have an amazing attraction, you offer fabulous food and drink or have guest accommodation which is out of this world you need to enter these awards."
Winners will be chosen by an independent panel of judges.
Barbara Woroncow, Independent Chair of Judges, is encouraging businesses to enter: "No matter how large or small, this is a real opportunity for tourism businesses to raise their profile, gain recognition for their hard work and show the rest of the UK why Yorkshire is such an amazing destination."
