Yorkshire garden lays down roots at Harlow Carr

The double award-winning Welcome to Yorkshire Rhubarb Crumble and Custard Garden has been formally welcomed to its permanent plot at RHS Harlow Carr by Minister for Tourism and Heritage, John Penrose MP.
During the Yorkshire leg of his regional tour the Tourism Minister unveiled a plaque commemorating the garden's arrival at Harlow Carr after it wowed crowds across the country at the Chelsea Flower Show - where it won the prestigious People's Choice award and a silver medal - and the Great Yorkshire Show.
Gary Verity, Chief Executive of Welcome to Yorkshire, said:
"The garden represents everything that is great about Yorkshire - fine produce, leading craftsmanship, setting the standard for others to follow and above all, capturing the people's imagination. This garden is in its rightful place at Harlow Carr where I am sure it will attract thousands more fans from across the world."
Mr Penrose said:
"It's great to be part of the ceremony that brings this famous Yorkshire garden home. I'm sure it will continue to be a tourist attraction in its own right, drawing crowds to Harlow just as it did in Chelsea."
Also at the event was Dan Wolfe, RHS Director of Marketing, Membership and External Communications, who is delighted to have the Welcome to Yorkshire Rhubarb Crumble and Custard Garden at Harlow Carr:
"The garden is a wonderful addition to Harlow Carr; it is a fitting final destination for it to lay down roots and we look forward to it bringing lots of pleasure to our visitors as our latest, award-winning attraction!"
The garden, designed by Gillespies LLP of Leeds, has been the centre piece of the new Welcome to Yorkshire Gardens campaign. The campaign highlights many of the beautiful gardens throughout Yorkshire which people can visit.
