1 Your Account

The Olympic Torch is coming to a place near you!

The Olympic Flame arrives in the UK on 18 May 2012, representing peace, unity and friendship. The Flame will be carried by 8,000 inspirational Torchbearers during the Olympic Torch Relay across the whole of the UK over 70 days bringing the excitement of the Games to everyone.

The Olympic Torch Relay will help shine a light on the whole of Yorkshire & Humber as we've managed to secure a route which takes in every Local Authority on it's journey across the region, through cities and villages, to the coast and the hills.

In Yorkshire & Humber, the torch will take in five evening celebrations:

Hull - Monday 18th June

York - Tuesday 19th June

Leeds - Sunday 24th June

Sheffield - Monday 25th June

Cleethorpes - Tuesday 26th June

Evening celebrations in towns and cities will show off the best of the local area, bringing people together to mark the Olympic Flame's arrival.

The route will take in a huge array of Yorkshire & Humber landmarks including the Humber Bridge, the Piece Hall in Halifax, Sutton Bank, Grimsby Dock Tower, and many more. Paralympic Flame Celebrations

We are pleased to annouce that Yorkshire & Humber has secured five Paralympic Flame Celebrations which will take plaxce across the region over the August Bank Holiday weekend. As the Paralympic Torch Relay runs differently to the Olympic Torch Relay, a Flame from the Paralympic Relay will be transferred from London to York before continuing journeys into each corner of the region.
