Insider's Tips

1.

Beside the seaside

From peaceful fishing bays to donkeys and sandcastles, the Yorkshire Coast has it all. Visit Scarborough or Bridlington for seaside charm in spades or discover one of the region's beautifully well-kept Blue Flag beaches and enjoy the immaculate golden sands. Pack a picnic, don't forget your swimming costume and enjoy a seaside jolly to remember!

2.

History and wildlife

The rugged Yorkshire coastline is peppered with historic gems. The most romantic and atmospheric has to be Whitby Abbey, with its haunting ruins and dramatic cliff top location. Flamborough Head is the perfect destination for nature lovers - a wild and windswept stretch of land, teeming with bird life and gorgeous scenery.

3.

Fun for the family

Scarborough Sealife Centre, housed in the iconic three pyramids on the North Bay, features an underwater world of 1,000s of sea creatures including otters, seals and penguins and is a wonderful afternoon out. Alternatively, children will love taking a trip out into the spray on the old Lifeboat in Whitby, before visiting the Lifeboat Museum which recalls the many heroic rescues since the lifeboat was first stationed in 1826.
