A stronghold of medieval kings, Knaresborough Castle is beautifully set overlooking the River Nidd. Explore the castle independently or join a tour to discover the history of the King’s Chamber, visit the dungeon and scurry through the secret underground exit (sallyport).

Get a fascinating insight into medieval castle life and Knaresborough’s royal residents. Play our computer adventure game to discover life in the fourteenth century or explore how the castle may have looked back then.

Visit the Courtroom Museum to discover an original Tudor courtroom and learn more of Knaresborough’s colourful history.
