YYS is a unique youth orchestra course in Yorkshire delivering life changing orchestral courses for young musicians and unforgettable high profile concerts celebrating Yorkshire’s culture, focusing the nations media on the region’s cultural achievements. In September 2015, YYS gained national acclaim as the feature of the BBC Radio 4 programme “Birth of an Orchestra” with Alan Bennett.

Working in partnership with Welcome to Yorkshire and the University of Leeds, YYS continues to attract the world’s best to Yorkshire. The concert for 2016 will take place at Leeds Town Hall with world renowned soloist Stephen Hough – one of Classic FM’s “25 greatest pianists of all time”.

The orchestra consists of some of Yorkshire’s finest young musicians aged 12-18, who are provided with worldclass tuition and cutting edge workshops at the forefront of music education. This immersive experience is a life changing experience for young musicians with the product being a concert of excellent quality.
