Welcome to Tour de Yorkshire, a garden to celebrate the arrival of the 2014 Grand Départ of the Tour de France in Yorkshire this July, but also to celebrate the wonderfully diverse landscapes our beautiful county has to offer.
This year is the first time in the 111-year history of the Tour that the world-famous cycle race rolls into the north of England, with its Grand Départ taking place across two Yorkshire stages. The routes will pass through historic cities and idyllic countryside, forming a perfect opening to the 101st edition of the Tour de France.
The garden's design incorporates a spectacular water feature alongside a beautifully windswept hawthorn tree transplanted from Yorkshire soil, with stone boulder steps reminiscent of the breath-taking limestone pavement at Malham Cove - all evoking images of what the world's best cyclists will see in July.
And with a history of award-winning gardens, we hope Tour de Yorkshire will match our best performances at the Chelsea Flower Show - a gold medal, and three back-to-back People's Choice awards.

Gary Verity, chief executive of Welcome to Yorkshire, said: "Our Tour de Yorkshire garden brings together all that is wonderful in our beautiful county, with a unique twist to celebrate the arrival of the Grand Départ of the Tour de France in Yorkshire. Our famous scenery will take centre stage when the world's greatest cycle race arrives in the summer, and the Tour de Yorkshire garden sets the scene perfectly for what will be the great event to ever have come to Yorkshire."

Town End (Leeds) plc
Suppliers of DyoFix Pond Colours are proud to be supporting the Alistair Baldwin designed Welcome to Yorkshire show garden. We are a family owned Yorkshire business dating back to the 19th century currently supplying colour to over 100 countries and put our early success down to the wool processing industry that Yorkshire was famous for.
Colour in a pond creates a superb reflection and although this is the most obvious reason for its use, the main benefit is that it stops light travelling to the bottom of the pond and halts the growth of algae and weeds. Without light the process of photosynthesis is interrupted.
All DyoFix lake and pond dyes are made using only EEC Food approved colours and are not harmful to fish, wildlife, insects or pets.
