Welcome to Yorkshire's Delicious Tea Trail which will give you more than a taste of the fabulous tea offer right across Yorkshire.

There's nothing quite like a good cup of tea – whether it's enjoyed in the afternoon with cakes or sipped outdoors while admiring the county's stunning natural beauty.

Our trail features everything from information on our wonderful producers and tea companies to places in perfect surroundings where you can enjoy a good brew. While we couldn't fit in every place to enjoy a good cuppa, these examples highlight some of the ones definitely worth a visit.

So enjoy exploring and we truly hope our trail will be everyone's cup of tea.

Nestled on a medieval street just a stone's throw from York Minster and decked out with antique dressers, vintage adverts and a roaring fire in winter, Bettys Stonegate is a cosy and welcoming haven – one of York's hidden gems.

Housed in a Grade II listed building in this traditional Yorkshire market town, Bettys Northallerton is elegant throughout, with both a walled courtyard for summer enjoyment and an indoor 'Palm Room' with a domed glass roof and a three-metre high Chusan palm.

Wentbridge House Hotel

Traditional afternoon tea at Wentbridge is a firm favourite and a great way to catch up with friends! Served in either the Wentbridge Restaurant or (weather permitting) in our beautiful gardens in the sunshine, it's an unforgettable was to spend a relaxed afternoon. Tennants Auctioneers is a fourth generation family run business based in the heart of the Yorkshire dales. As well as holding over 100 sales a year Tennants have a restaurant which is open for breakfast, lunch and afternoon tea,8:30am – 4:30pm, Monday – Friday and on Saturdays when we have an auction.

5Oulton Hall

It would be hard to beat a relaxing afternoon in the Huntsman’s Lodge at The Coniston Hotel enjoying a traditional and beautifully presented afternoon tea. Here at The Coniston we’ve been working really hard to make your afternoon tea experience a truly memorable treat.

7Clocktower at Rudding Park

Set in 300 acres of parkland three miles south of Harrogate, Clocktower at Rudding Park offers traditional afternoon tea with contemporary flair in a friendly and relaxed atmosphere. Take tea in the restaurant underneath the pink chandelier, the bright and airy conservatory alongside the 400 year old olive tree or on the south-facing terrace in the sunshine.

8Scampston Walled Garden Restaurant

Filled with light whatever the weather, this beautiful licensed venue offers fresh homemade food for morning coffee, light lunch and afternoon tea. A Brymor Ice Cream Parlour and Milkshake Bar is an added attraction. You are welcome to visit the restaurant on its own, or combine it with a visit to the award-winning Walled Garden or historic Scampston Hall.

9Surfs Up Coffee Shop

Situated on Saltburn lower promenade near pier and cliff lift. Giving fantastic sea views -Retro décor with inside and outside seating. Pots of Yorkshire Tea - Organic speciality teas - Caffe Vinci coffees - L’antinco Italian thick drinking chocolate - Milkshakes and ice cream sundaes - All day breakfasts - Hot and cold food served throughout the day.

10Chez Shamwari

A unique and delicious afternoon tea experience awaits you in one of the delightful period Saltaire houses. The venue is in cosy and intimate surroundings but the exact location is only revealed on a ‘need to know basis’. So if you are looking for Chez Shamwari on the high street, you won’t find it.

11The Devonshire Arms

Situated on the Duke of Devonshire’s 30,000 acre Bolton Abbey estate in the Yorkshire Dales, The Devonshire Arms Country House Hotel and Spa is the perfect setting in which to enjoy a delicious afternoon tea. Our ‘Wharfedale Tea’ includes a hot drink, selection of sandwiches, raisin scone and Yorkshire Parkin and is a firm favourite of The Duchess of Devonshire.

12Holdworth House Hotel & Restaurant

Holdsworth House is one of Yorkshire’s top independent four-star hotels. Enjoy Champagne afternoon tea in the historic Hall, courtyard or gardens at this Jacobean manor, which dates back to 1633. Located 3 miles north of Halifax on The Calderdale Way and close to Brontë country, Holdsworth House offers luxury and wonderful friendly service.

13The Croft Hotel

Set in the north wing of The Croft Hotel in what once was the original Coach House. Originally built in 1835 and positioned in front of The Croft Bridge this historical building has benefitted from substantial investment and sympathetically restored to its former glory. The setting offers beautiful views of the River Tees and St Peter’s Church the latter rumoured to be the inspiration for Lewis Carroll’s Alice in Wonderland.

14Cafe Natural

Café Natural is a family owned restaurant, located above Lakeland Leather on Northallerton’s high street. We offer a haven of calm amid the market town bustle with our light, airy premises, including Northallerton’s only open terrace. We serve breakfast from 9.30am, coffees, lunches, afternoon teas and a great selection of homemade cakes and scones.

15Kiplin Hall

Portraits of family members, captured on canvas long ago, gaze serenely down from the wood-panelled walls of 17th century Kiplin Hall’s award winning Tea Room. Visitors enjoy home baking throughout the day and freshly prepared lunches between 12 and 2. Local produce and fresh vegetables from the Hall’s Walled Garden are on the menu whenever possible.

16Lavender's

Well positioned in the centre of the quintessential picturesque village of Thornton Le Dale. Relax and enjoy a selection of teas and barista coffees from Taylors of Harrogate. Tempting homemade cakes and scones served with locally made jam and clotted cream on vintage china complements our tea room.

17Lewis & Cooper

Serving up the right blend of warm welcome and traditional table service, these first-floor tearooms are a haven in this quintessentially Yorkshire market town. The store itself is a deceptively huge temple to fine food and drink from around the county – and the world. It’s also one of the few places in Yorkshire to blend, roast and grind on-site the coffee it serves and sells.

18Ripley Castle Tea Room

Ripley Castle Tearooms in the heart of historic and unique Ripley Village. We serve quality homemade dishes using local produce. From traditional Afternoon Tea to our lunchtime favourite Yorkshire Platter, or our hearty seasonal soup and sandwich or the fresh baked teatime treats, you can be assured of a warm welcome.

On the terrace, in the light and airy atrium or in front of a warming log fire... afternoon tea at the Talbot is a highlight. 21Barnsley Museums

Barnsley Museums have tea rooms and cafés which all offer a wide range of scrumptious options ranging from traditional to contemporary with a twist. Elsecar Heritage Centre, Worsbrough Mill Museum & Country Park, The Cooper Gallery, Cannon Hall Museum, Park & Gardens and Experience Barnsley all serve a delicious range of food and drink in stunning locations.

22Goathland Tea Room

Situated in the centre of the picturesque moorland village of Goathland otherwise known as Adensfield from the YTV series Heartbeat.This delightful friendly tearoom serves a traditional fare of delicious home-made scones,cakes, quiches, soups, and oven-baked jacket potatoes with a good pot of “proppa” Yorkshire Tea or coffee.

23Cross View Tea Room

A traditional Tea Room overlooking Richmond’s historic cobbled market place. 26The Priory Guest House and Tea Room

Fifty yards from Middleham Castle and with four outside tables, the Priory Tea Room offers lovely views of the village, and of strings of racehorses passing by on their way to the gallops on the moor. We have a wide range of hot and cold sandwiches as well as gorgeous home-made cakes and scones; when autumn comes, we will be adding soups to the menu...

28Cow & Calf Rock Cafe

The Cow and Calf Rock Café is afamily run business serving visitors to Ilkley for over 20 years. The café has a welcoming terrace looking up to the famous Cow and Calf Rocks on Ilkley Moor with spectacular views.
