Brontë Country

IlkleyBrontë Country has much to offer the visitor, located in West Yorkshire on the Pennines a low rising mountain range which runs along the back bone of England. In The historic village of Haworth, with its quaint, cobbled Main Street, provides a selection of intriguing shops, cafes, restaurants and pubs, as well as un-missable attractions such as the Brontë Parsonage Museum. This is the original home of the renowned literary family and preserved as it would have been in their day and containing many of their original possessions.

Charlotte Brontë visited often and featured Red House in her novel "Shirley". Includes period rooms, enchanting recreated gardens and exhibitions in restored outbuildings.

HaworthEast Riddlesden Hall is an intimate 17th century manor house with a stunning collection of embroideries, pewter and oak furniture. Visitors can wander around the house or out in the award winning romantic gardens.  For something a little different, Hebden Bridge Cruises offers a choice of 30 minute scenic cruises to a more leisurely afternoon tea, Sunday lunch trip or a chartered cruise, you can relax and enjoy the tranquillity of the canal or learn more about the history, heritage and wildlife of this fascinating area.

Vintage transport enthusiasts will also not be disappointed with a visit to the Ingrow Museum of Rail Travel where over 50 TV and film productions have featured restored railway carriages from this multi-award winning museum. Sit in their carriages and imagine what rail travel used to be like.
