Halloween In Yorkshire
If things that go bump in the night excite you and you'd love nothing more than coming face to face with ghosts and goblins, then a Yorkshire Halloween will be right up your street. Yorkshire has a history of ghoulishness...did you know that York is often referred to as the most haunted city in the UK? Whilst Whitby revels in its Gothic past that made Bram Stoker feel it was the perfect setting for Dracula!
With it being the spooky chill-spot of the UK, visit York on an evening and join a Ghost Walk to take you round the narrow alleys and dark passages of old York, all whilst you are told about the horrid history and hear the scary stories that will send shivers down your spine...with a little room for having a bit of giggle too. The Original Ghost Walk of York is believed to be the world's first ghost walk and will cost you just £4 to experience it firsthand. New for 2011 is the Yorkshire Scare Grounds Scream Park, Wakefield, made up of several attractions you'll have one ‘hell' of a time! A whole host of fearful activities await at Bunker 13 Scare Attraction, Magna, Rotherham this Halloween. From 21st October 2011 - 31st October, 11am - 5pm. This Halloween, be prepared for a new era of terror, fear and panic as you descend into the nightmare world that is Bunker 13 taking you on a journey into a forgotten Cold War facility where anything can and will happen!!!

Visit Wentworth Castle and Gardens from 22nd - 31st October for a whole host of spooky goings on, there's the Halloween Trail, make your own broomstick and Witches & Wizards Hat, try Pumpkin Carving and there's even a Fright Night Disco on Sunday 30th October, 4.30pm - 7.30pm, £5 per person.
Enjoy your freedom while it lasts as Fear Masters Entertainment invites you to test your nerve at the brand new Yorkshire Scare Grounds Scream Park. The Park in Wakefield is a gigantic 23 acre site that houses not one but six unique attractions all for one single ticket price.
Frightwater Valley, North Yorkshire, Saturday 29th & Sunday 30th October. Each Halloween Lightwater Valley theme park transforms into Frightwater Valley, with the resurrection of Dracula's Labyrinth, a live action horror maze, as well as Raptor Attack LIVE! and (new for 2011) the haunting of Skeleton Cove, it doesn't take a soothsayer to predict that Frightwater Valley will be the place to be seen this Halloween!
Join in Britain's biggest Halloween party - Fright Night, Sheffield on 30th October 3.30pm till 8.30pm. Typically attracting up to 40,000 revellers, the party promises to be a monster event. Celebrating things that go bump in the night there will be a whole host of chills and thrills including a fiendish fun fair, fancy dress catwalk and charity fire walk.
Journey to the dark side for a terrifyingly entertaining night to remember at York Maze with Hallowscream ‘By Night' at York Maze. The giant maize maze has been harvested but there is a host of Halloween activities. from Thursday 27th October - Monday 31st October - Five nights only 6pm - 10.30pm. For the less brave there's Halloween ‘By Day' at York Maze Saturday 22nd October to Sunday 30th October. 10am - 4.30pm (last entry 3pm)
Tales of Fear at Conisbrough Castle, Doncaster. 28th - Saturday 29th October. Tours at 6:30pm, 8pm & 9:30pm. On the eve of All Saints, Conisbrough Castle presents a selection of unsettling tales for Halloween. Costumed storytellers will take small groups into the castle grounds after dark and into the various chambers of the Keep to reveal these tales of fright. Tours 45mins in duration. Not suitable for under 10yrs.
Keep the kids spellbound this half term and Halloween with special events from Friday 21st October at Stockeld Park, near Wetherby. For the brave put on your scariest Halloween costume for ‘Fright Nights' 27th - 30th October, 5.30pm - 9.30pm and if you dare, let AtmosFEAR take you on a haunted walk through 'The Garden of Evil'. Search 'Hades - The Maze of the Minotaur' and visit 'The Dollhouse', be prepared to be scared! Ticket price includes entry to all three attractions. For the less brave there's Spooky Theatre in the Woods, with 16 performances between 4pm - 8pm 25th - 26th October.
Dare you enter the haunted Castle? Join the Bolton Castle witches for their spooky, spectacular Halloween Party at the Castle in Leyburn! With scary activities, trails and games for children of all ages to enjoy!
Cannon Hall Farm, Barnsley is holding a Halloween Pumpkin Festival from 22nd - 31st October, with a free pumpkin for every paying child, create your design and wathc them be created! Children's craft activities are also included with sheep racing taking place every day.

Halloween Horrors at Kiplin Hall, Scorton on 25th October spooky fun and goings on for families. Brave the ‘Torchlight Ghost Tours' 27th - 28th October. Tour the hall with your ‘Victorian' guide and hear tales of its ghostly inhabitants through the centuries. Bring a torch! Booking essential, adult £8, child £5 (for the not too sensitive)

Doncaster Racecourse an evening of spooky family fun, live entertainment and scrumptious tea time treats at our Spook-tacular Halloween Thriller! 29th October. Once you've indulged yourself with our yummy tea time treats, visited our giant funfair and had a chance to browse our spooky market stalls - it'll be time for our live entertainment. Be prepared to be scared! Visit the Royal Armouries museum after hours on 28th October for a whole host of horrible activities, including a spooktacular show and fancy dress competition! Swash those buckles and hear the tales of evil pirate Captain Kidd, who is back from the dead to answer for his hideous crimes and to finally reveal the secret location of his hidden treasure.
