This season's Welcome to Yorkshire Scarborough Cricket Festival takes place on the 17 - 21 August 2011, with Yorkshire matches against the Sussex Sharks in the CB40 League on Sunday 21st and Sussex in the LV= County Championship from 17th-20th.
First played on the east coast in 1876, Scarborough Cricket Festival is one of the most historic sporting events in the world and has hosted many of the world's greatest cricketers down the years. The ground, situated at North Marine Road, has seen large crowds of holiday makers watching first class cricket in late summer sunshine. Scarborough is a cricket lover's delight, with the stands built close to the boundary edge, making for an exceptional view and helping create a unique atmosphere.
This year at Scarborough Andrew Gale's men will play Sussex in both the LV County Championship and the Clydesdale Bank 40-Over League. Riding high in the CB40 but only two places above Yorkshire in the LV County Championship, a Sussex double-header at Scarborough will present Yorkshire with both challenges and opportunities alike.
It's been a difficult season for Yorkshire thus far, but never write off the Tykes at Scarborough. The current squad boasts some of the finest young talent in the country. So, whilst they'll obviously be hoping to finish strongly in the remaining competitions, there'll be more than a few players looking to give the England selectors something to think about.
