Win a stay for two in rural North Yorkshire

Black Swan Hotel

The Black Swan has dominated the market square of Helmsley for centuries - a local landmark as well as a luxury hotel.

Originally a coaching inn, it thrived throughout the 20th century and became a well-know refuge for those escaping from everyday life. In essence, that's still what is done today.
The hotel offers a sanctuary of relaxation for those walking in the North York Moors National Park and the beautiful surrounding area, who take time out to enjoy Helmsley's many shops and galleries or wish to visit great landmarks like York Minster, Castle Howard and Rievaulx Abbey.

Hospitality is at the centre of any great hotel and The Black Swan is proud of its reputation for superb, locally sourced food. Dine here - or at least enjoy a few treats at the award-winning tearoom and patisserie - a truly memorable experience!

Visit The Black Swan and you really will feel as if you're part of a long history. The hotel comprises three houses; the black and white house on the left of the terrace, the Georgian house in the middle, and the Elizabethan building on the right, which stands on the site where an inn is believed to have been situated for many centuries.

The addition of the houses has led to the preservation of the historically important areas of the building and has also done much to enhance the overall character of the hotel.

Mussels at the Black SwanOver the years The Black Swan has received many awards for its superb hospitality, the food it serves and the quality of its services. Currently the hotel has a four star status from the AA and was voted Yorkshire Life Hotel of the Year 2008 - 2009
