From ancient spas to time honored breweries, groups can find a range of unusual destinations to visit in the region.

Under your feet

Under your feet Yorkshire’s rugged landscape is filled with unusual underground features for groups to explore. At White Scar Caves, just outside Ingleton in the Yorkshire Dales, groups can view a dramatic subterranean landscape, featuring ice-age chambers and flood-lit rock formations. Groups can pre-book a guided tour and receive a discount on entry.

Nearby, on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales, the dramatic caves of Stump Cross Caverns, in Nidderdale, extend over three and a half miles into the earth. Groups receive a discount. Moving south, to Knaresborough, just outside Harrogate, groups can also tour Mother Shipton’s Cave, not forgetting a stop at Betty’s in Harrogate for lunch or their famous afternoon tea.

At Rock Steady Adventure, they provide outdoor adventure activities for all sorts of different groups – so whatever your connection to the rest of your group or team we can arrange a great event to suit you. On film

Yorkshire’s countryside has also provided the backdrop to a number of films and television programmes. Groups travelling by steam train on the North Yorkshire Moors Railway from Pickering can stop off at Goathland Station, which featured as Hogsmeade Station in ‘Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone’ and is also known to many as Aidensfield Station, used during the filming of ‘Heartbeat’. Groups exploring the village can see many locations used in the show, such as the Post Office and Greengrass’s Farm and pre-book meals at the Goathland Hotel, famous as the Aidensfield Arms.

Moving west to Thirsk, groups can see the landscape that inspired James Herriot and featured in the TV series, ‘All Creatures Great and Small’. The town’s World of James Herriot, housed in Herriot’s former veterinary surgery, focuses on veterinary history in the area and features a collection of props from the show. Group discounts are available.

Meanwhile, groups can visit Kettlewell in the Yorkshire Dales, which doubled as the fictional village of Knapeley in the hit film ‘Calendar Girls’. North of Bradford, fans of ‘Emmerdale’ can visit the scenic village of Esholt, the site of the original set before the village was replicated in the grounds of Harewood House. The village’s Woolpack Pub offers pre-booked group meals. To the south in Pennine Yorkshire, the small town of Holmfirth is famous as the setting for ‘Last of the Summer Wine’.

Explore York’s famous shambles and quaint Stonegate shopping in the shadow of York Minster, find a bargain at the designer boutiques housed in the Victoria Quarter, Leeds or how about an unusual shopping experience in Bradford where you will find Bombay stores and a variety of Eastern goods.

Group visits at The Deep, Hull are more than encouraged with large parties able to enjoy a £3 per person saving when booking as part of a group of 10 or more paying visitors. Your group will receive fast track entry meaning reduced queuing times and there’s free coach parking on site and drop off points at the main doors.

Sheffield offers all you need under one roof at Meadowhall and the new St Stephen’s Quarter in Hull offers great shopping, top brands and a selection of lovely cafes to sit and watch the world go by.
