Whether visiting family and friends, coming to take part in one of the many music and arts festivals, walking the majestic Pennine Way or for any other reason, the visitor to Riverview Bed and Breakfast will enjoy something a little bit special. Riverview has a double and a twin room; each individually designed and with its own adjoining Art Deco style bathroom. Great care has been taken to ensure your stay is not only warm and comfortable, but enhanced with little touches of luxury. In addition to a range of herbal teas and fresh coffee, guests are invited to enjoy complimentary wine, and each bedroom boasts fine linens, fluffy towels and fresh flowers. Digital television, radio and wifi is available in both rooms. Riverview Bed and Breakfast offers glorious views of either the canal and Horeshold wood to the rear, or the Calder river and Eaves wood to the front. The landscape changes with the seasons; whether illuminated by sunshine and blue skies, blanketed by dazzling white snow or shrouded in veils of mist reminiscent of the rain forests, it is never less than spectacular.
At breakfast we try to cater for all tastes, and wherever possible source all our ingredients from local suppliers. Our eggs come from happy hens given the freedom of the Calderdale hillsides! In addition to a traditional, full Yorkshire breakfast, guests are welcome to choose tempting and contemporary alternatives such as French toast with bananas, blueberries and maple syrup, smoked salmon and scrambled eggs on toasted muffins, or from a range of Riverview’s own omelettes. Vegetarian and Vegan options are always available and if there is something you’d prefer that’s not on the menu, just let us know. Herbal, fruit and decaffeinated teas and fresh ground coffee are always available. On fine, sunny days we are happy to serve your breakfast outside where you can take full advantage of the wonderful scenery.
Despite its size, Hebden Bridge has a wonderful range of restaurants, bars and coffee shops. Within just a few seconds walk of Riverview is the award-winning Stubbing Wharf pub, situated on the banks of the canal and serving excellent food and a great selection of locally brewed ales, throughout the day and into the evening. If you’d rather travel a little further afield, we are always happy to recommend restaurants to suit your taste, and are happy to make bookings for you, and arrange taxis if necessary.
For walkers and cyclists we can offer drying facilities and secure storage, and are always happy to make up a packed lunch for you to enjoy on the next stage of your journey.
Whilst our bedrooms aren’t large, with a little advance notice we are happy to accommodate children and dogs.
The Calder Valley has a rich industrial heritage as well as being home to distinguished literary figures. Ted Hughes lived in neighbouring Mytholmroyd and was inspired to write much of his material whilst walking on the surrounding hills. The village of Haworth can be found 8 miles away across wild, majestic moorland. One of its main attractions is the Parsonage, which was home to the Bronte family and is now a world famous museum.
Throughout the year, Hebden Bridge hosts many arts and music festivals, attracting the best national and international artists and performers for a celebration of music, comedy, drama, dance, literature and visual arts.
Outdoor pursuits such as rambling, fell running and mountain biking can all be enjoyed in the vicinity with the Pennine Way traversing the valley approximately one and a half miles outside Hebden Bridge towards Todmorden. For those who wish to explore more of this wonderful county, there are excellent road, rail and bus links to the many historic and beautiful places of interest in the region, with York, Leeds, Bradford and the Dales all being easily accessible. Whatever the reasons for your visit, and whether this is your first or twenty first visit, Riverview, in Hebden Bridge is a wonderful place in which to be based, and we look forward to making your stay magical and memorable.
