The Angel Inn at Hetton has a long and illustrious history. As the original gastropub it has always led the way and done things a little differently. It seems perfectly appropriate that this legendary North Yorkshire Dales establishment continues to break new ground.
The arrival of Michael Wignall in 2018 as chef patron put the tiny hamlet of Hetton firmly back on the culinary map. Michael and his wife Johanna – along with James and Josephine Wellock – took over the business in September. Their bold, ambitious plans taking The Angel to a new, unique and very special place indeed.
Two Michelin-starred chef Michael Wignall reimagined the pub’s offering and created a fabulous new menu for the 60-cover restaurant. The team’s plans to open a brand new fine-dining restaurant called Cove ensures that The Angel will become one of the UK’s must-visit destinations.
In addition to the work which will intensify The Angel’s gastronomic status as a world-class destination, the team plan to update and improve the accommodation.
There are nine en-suite bedrooms which are situated next door and across the road from the main building. Fell View Barn houses five individual luxury rooms, two of which have their own sitting rooms. The building boasts magnificent views over Rylstone Fell and beyond. Next door, Sycamore Bank can be found. This cottage conversion contains four beautifully furnished bedrooms – all of which provide the famous Yorkshire welcome.
With the nine bedrooms due for completion in 2019, The accommodation at the Angel Inn at Hetton will perfectly reflect the unique and exciting gastronomic experience.
