When I worked at Rippon a few years ago my wife was able to get me and four colleagues accomodation in this lovely house. I actually stayed myself in the small apartment by the front gateway. We thought it was the best of luck with the accommodation and also with the owners who were terrific,in fact they are the best. The peacefulness and beauty of the surroundings was beautiful. Nearby is the well-known ruins of Fountain Abbey, and lots of great walks. Always mean to call by, but it hasn't happened yet.
Wonderful stay at this working Farm: Val and Andrew tend wheat fields, rear cattle and sheep for nearby Fountains Abbey and run a very accommodating house. I was just beginning my holiday and Baytree Farm was to be my first port of call for 2 nights. When I booked I forgot about where I was going to get dinner, but a quick email the day before I arrived and Val replied as she was already cooking that evening she could squeeze me in. I arrived late and had to phone her. Again she was very accommodating with 2 other guests waiting and held the meal for me. She also gave me dinner for my second night. The meals were exemplary with all the guests sitting round a big table house - party style. All food was cooked on the Aga. For evening meal first day I had soup, chicken and leek pie - beautifully moist, and strawberries and cream. The second night Val cooked us a beef steak with all the trimmings. Breakfasts were as equally good with a good choice and lots of it. The full English was especially delicious! My room was thoughtfully laid out and was a joy to use. The location is lovely and peaceful. Splendid walks available - easy walking to Fountains Abbey (but, if you're going, wear boots and waterproof trousers as there's long wet grass to negotiate even in July). Birds singing, bees buzzing and butterflies butterflying. Looking back over my holiday accommodation I would say that Baytree Farm was the best house that I stayed at! Thank you Val and Andrew.
No wonder Bay Tree has won so many awards, it really is the most comfortable, friendly place to stay. Val is always ready to help, including maps to nearby Fountains Abbey. Wonderful place to stay.
Lovely location, lovely rooms, brilliant service, delicious food and really well set up for kids. We went with kids of 2, 5 and 7 and the lawned area and communal space inside was really good for them. Val can't do enough for you and the breakfast and evening meals are superb.
Oh this place is amazing... no wonder my dad has been coming here for years and years for his holidays. Beautiful rooms amazing food and Val is an adorable host who makes feel right at home. Must stay!!!
