Art and Exhibitions
Cartwright Hall Art Gallery is hosting two standout exhibitions until 17 August. Jameel Prize: Moving Images showcases digital and moving image works by seven artists from the Middle East and South Asia. Meanwhile, Journeys with Mai brings the iconic Portrait of Mai back on tour alongside new community projects, in partnership with the National Portrait Gallery.
In Keighley, the Rombald’s Rocks Sculpture Trail runs until 29 June. Ten unique sculptures, inspired by the legend of Rombald the Giant, are dotted around the town centre — a lovely way to combine art with a leisurely stroll.
Festivals and Community Events
In Thornton, the Art Trail returns on the same weekend, filling homes, studios and streets with art, workshops and demonstrations — a creative way to explore the village.
Don’t miss Windrush Generations – Carnival of Culture on 14 June in Centenary Square. This celebration marks 77 years since the Windrush arrival with live bands, delicious Caribbean food and family entertainment.
Guided Walks and Nature
June’s guided walks offer spectacular views and fascinating local stories. Highlights include the Lunch With The Twelve Apostles Walk on 14 June, the dramatic Hewenden Vistas walk, and a dawn Summer Solstice Walk on 21 June to watch the sunrise over Baildon.
Denso Marston Nature Reserve hosts Celebration Day on 14 June, National Insect Week events from 23 to 27 June, and even a creative writing session for nature lovers on 16 June.
Live Music and Entertainment
Enjoy free bandstand concerts throughout June at Roberts Park, Cliffe Castle and Myrtle Park, with performances from local brass bands and ensembles.
For a unique experience, Keighley & District Model Engineering Society opens its miniature railway to the public on 15 June — perfect for families.
Stories and Culture
As Bradford prepares for its year as UK City of Culture in 2025, the district is already brimming with cultural events. Highlights include the renowned Bradford Literature Festival (27 June – 6 July) and Moomin 80: What Will We Do Without Exile?, an immersive installation at The Beacon in Bowling Park.
