The company’s tenth tavern, Brigantes opened in February 2006 and saw a comprehensive refurbishment programme in May 2013.

Located some 100 yards from York’s famous Micklegate Bar, the premises are housed in a listed Georgian building which was the birthplace of Joseph Aloysius Hansom (1803 – 1882), a renowned architect, inventor and designer of landscape gardens. He is perhaps most well-known for the design of the magnificent Birmingham Town Hall and for inventing the Hansom Can which he patented in 1834.

The spacious ground floor area with sun filled dining area situated to the right, leads to a lounge area at the back whilst upstairs’ is a period Georgian function / private dining room. This is available for functions, meetings or private dining events and can seat 36 people.

York railway station is situated 5 minutes away walk away and historic city centre of York itself is a 10 minute stroll from Brigantes
