This fabulous Victorian Market Hall, which celebrated its centenary in 2004, was the focal point of trading in the town when it was built. When it became full the open market grew up around it. Today it is home to 38 permanent market stalls and is famed for its extensive range of fine foods and produce.
General Market – Wednesday and Saturday from 9.00am–4.30pm (4pm Christmas – March)
Still the largest and most renowned open market in Yorkshire, Dewsbury’s fabulous open market boasts over 300 stalls on general market days. With a range of goods to rival any supermarket, at real value for money prices, Dewsbury market truly is shopping at its very best.
Second-Hand Market – every Friday 9.00am – 3.30pm
A regular Friday feature, with around 50 stalls selling pre-loved bric-a-brac, furniture, books and clothing, come and haggle for a bargain.
Sunday Car ‘Bootless’ Sale – every Sunday from 6am until 12.30pm
‘One man’s trash is another man’s treasure’ and this is certainly so at this market. Crowds flock here each Sunday searching for that bargain hidden amongst the thousands of items on sale.
