Description

Located in the Wensleydale village of Askrigg, the King’s Arms featured as ‘the Drovers’ in the ‘All Creatures Great & Small’ TV series. Built in the C18th this grade II listed building was once owned by Horse trainer John Pratt who secured the 1782 St Leger with ‘Imperatix’. The hooks in the main bar ceiling still remaining from where they used to hang the reins and saddles.

Now the bar is dominated by a large open fire, with flagstone floors and high ceilings. Wooden oak panelling furnish the bar and restaurants. The Kings Arms offers traditional good quality pub food served alongside a selection of local beers from Black Sheep and Yorkshire Dale Breweries as well as a fine selection of wines.

Enjoy dishes such as Braised Wensleydale Lamb Hot Pot; Pigeon Breast with Bacon & Black Pudding Salad and Sticky Stout Pudding with Caramel Sauce & Vanilla Ice-cream. A selection of toasties and baguettes with homemade seasonal soup are available which are very popular with Walkers.
