I’m 72 years old and the full-time sole carer for my wife, who has Alzheimer’s disease. She is an ambulatory wheelchair user. We booked a 14-day cruise with P&O Cruises through Wordsworth Travel Ltd, hoping for a peaceful, memory-making experience—potentially our last real holiday together before her condition worsens. Instead, it turned into an extremely distressing and traumatic ordeal. Despite booking and paying for an accessible cabin, my wife was denied the use of her wheelchair because we were told she was not eligible for an evacuation chair—something we were never clearly warned about in advance. This meant she was forced to rely solely on a rollator, which severely limited her mobility and left her exhausted and vulnerable. She even fell on board, which could have been prevented had her wheelchair been allowed. Before the cruise, I received conflicting information from P&O—initially confirming in writing that a collapsible wheelchair was permitted, and later reversing that. I turned to Wordsworth Travel Ltd for help to resolve the confusion, but they offered no meaningful assistance. No one stepped in to advocate for us when we needed it most. Instead of enjoying our holiday, I spent every day on edge, physically and emotionally drained, watching my wife struggle. It was heartbreaking, and it left a lasting emotional toll. What this experience has shown me is how poorly cruise lines and agents understand or accommodate people with Alzheimer’s and other invisible disabilities. Accessibility should not be a checkbox. When someone books an accessible cabin, it should automatically trigger appropriate safety planning, including evacuation support. That’s just common sense and basic decency. This holiday, which we had looked forward to for so long, has become something I hope my wife forgets. And that’s a terrible thing to say about what was meant to be a treasured time together.

Came in to book a holiday but it had been a daily offer so not available. The lovely lady helping us came up with exactly the same holiday but 6 days earlier and £28 cheaper. She went through all the details with us before we booked. 2nd holiday with this company and will certainly book again. Highly recommend this friendly travel agent

Fantastic service and prices! Me and my partner have just come back from a beautiful holiday in Italy all booked through Wordsworth Travel and I cannot recommend them highly enough. The staff are friendly and efficiant, the prices are very reasonable and the aftercare is spot on too. Definatley our first port of call when it comes to booking holidays.
