We want to connect with Yorkshire folk around the world and for every paid membership a tree will be planted for you in Yorkshire to help create beautiful woodlands for everyone to enjoy. Many people have chosen to dedicate this tree to a loved one. We love hearing the stories behind the trees and have been given permission to share some of these wonderful dedications.
Kate Dobson from North Yorkshire dedicated a tree in Yorkshire to her late father Stewart.
"He was born and raised in Leeds and at 14 discovered a love for cross country running. Under the guidance of Harehills Harriers and then Leeds City Athletics Club he became good enough to represent England in the 1963 European Junior X Country Championships. He continued running for many years eventually taking on Fell Running in the Yorkshire Dales where he made his home."
Adrian Wortley from Winnipeg, Canada dedicated a tree to his late father John.
"My Dad died a year ago today and we are missing him ferociously. He was very pragmatic about death but asked that his ashes be put in the Red River here in Winnipeg so that they might slowly make their way back to Yorkshire. It was a romantic notion but one that illustrates his connection to his homeland. He would've been absolutely chuffed to know there would be a tree planted in his name in Yorkshire soil!"
