Description
Our winter series of Wednesday@One organ recitals welcomes top-class recitalists from across the country.
This season we feature chorale preludes from The Orgelbüchlein Project, a major international composition project to complete J S Bach’s Orgelbüchlein (Little Organ Book). The manuscript of Orgelbüchlein has 118 missing pieces, ghostly gaps with only the title penned by Bach. Each of these gaps is filled by a new composition based on Bach’s intended melody. The new pieces, written by some of the most interesting composers at work today, survey a range of modern styles.
Recitalists have chosen at least one chorale prelude from The Orgelbüchlein Project, which forms the basis of their programme. You can expect varied programmes, showing off some of the best and some of the least known organ repertoire.
