Flaxton Meadows Campsite

Make sure you have the correct location details in your sat nav, My nav look me down a single track lane a little before the actual site, had to then turn around. You need to look for the brick entrance which shows Woodlands Farm, 2pm check in and a 12pm checkout (great) The site itself is lovely, well manicured and spacious flat, even pitches, the drainage, tap and electric point are easy access. The shower/toilet block is immaculate, warm, plenty of hot water. Our only criticism is there is no shelf or curtain/divide between the showers head and door so if you have footwear its advisable to take a bag to keep them dry. When we arrived we went to reception, met a lovely, friendly gentleman who explained that the bar and pizza van would not be opening, maybe on the one day but as they weren't very busy they dont open. I do understand this but maybe this could have also been put on the website or sent in at email at time of booking or as we like to choose sites that have a bar or are within a 10 min walk to a pub. On the one day we arrived back the guy came over to us as we got out the car to say they had opened up the bar for tonight, we duly went over for a couple of drinks. Nice warm bar area, good prices and friendly. The only other thing is that this site is advertised as Adults only. There are 4 or 5 cabins on site, whilst we were there several of them had children in. Didnt matter to us as the site was quiet but not sure if it should be advertised as adults only. Free wifi. We went into York for the one day, got an UBER in £11 and then one home in the evening £16 defo worth it so as to have a drink and enjoy the city. It might sound as if I am moaning but as always I think its important to say how it was, all in all its a lovely well kept site, we always ask ourselves would we ever go back. The answer is yes, if were ever in the area we would.

Weekend at Flaxton Meadows on the campsite. We were met with a friendly welcome, shown where all the facilities are located then taken to our pitch. We had booked a hardstanding pitch which was very spacious. The whole campsite was very well maintained. There are plenty toilets and showers. They were heated and kept immaculately clean at all times. They are amongst the best we have been to! The bar area is great, very comfortable. Again, a friendly welcome when we walked in. Love the pizza van! We had pizza, garlic bread and chips. They were freshly cooked and delicious. We will certainly return, it would be nice if if it was open all year round......

Absolute gem of a place. Large pitches, with water & EHU. Showers & toilets clean & warm (plus the lights didn't go out halfway through your shower). Laundrette very reasonabily priced. Pizza & burgers were fantastic. Johnnie & Mark were incredibly helpful & couldn't have been nicer. Would definitley recommend, & hopefully we'll be back.

The most amazing campsite! Easy to find, loads of space. Everything is so clean and the toilets have heating so no cold toilet trips, loved the music in there too. Bar was reasonably priced and dog friendly and the food was yummy too. Also a lovely dog walk around the site to enjoy.

Great site for York, Pickering, Castle Howard, Whitby etc. very good facilities and amenities , excellent shower block. Main critique is they advertise the bar, it only opens if busy! The Flaxton Radio always on in the shower block always saying ‘no need to go hungry at Flaxton Meadows’ no food available! As bar closed. We stayed three nights. Like I said great site and will recommend it, But please bring the radio up to date as it’s not accurate
