Cannot give this little second-hand book shop enough stars. It’s a readers dream with shelves and piles of books stacked everywhere - definitely carve out at least half an hour of your time to take a thorough look. Lots of variety, we mainly come here for the vintage/classic literature and mechanics/engineering tomes. The owner is lovely and always has a good chat with us when we stop by. If you have any unwanted books please consider donating them here - it’s a great way to keep books in circulation and keep independent local stores alive!

What a fantastic book shop this is, it’s a hidden gem in Halifax and needs supporting. We visited today for the first time and it’s probably the best book shop I’ve been in. I’m mainly interested in railway stuff, but the selection is enormous for everything you want. A lovely gentleman was at hand to show us round. I had a wonderful chat with him about steam trains as well. I can’t recommend this shop highly enough. Well recommended.

Brames books is excellent for second hand books. They've got lots of different types of books not just your typical best sellers. If your looking for antiques, classics, non-fiction or science fiction they have plenty to chose from. Plus it's well priced, I came out with 7 books recently for £3. Friendly service too, great spot for book nerds like me! Below is my haul over the weekend.

A brilliant little bookshop in the heart of Halifax! There are so many books in here I could have just browsed for hours. The owner is so friendly and easy to speak to. Also absolutely amazing value. I got two books with a discount and I’m so happy with them. You can also take your books here when you no longer want them which is a great feature. Will definitely be coming back here! 📚

Always a fantastic selection of good quality books, including many rare and old copies. A charming and friendly owner who really knows his stock. Prices are very fair indeed. Brilliant for transport books.
