Heritage and Culture

The Peak District National Park and the National Trust Marsden Moor Estate provide a beautiful backdrop to the Holme Valley villages, whilst the countryside around the villages of Denby Dale, Kirkburton, Shelly, Shepley and Emley is a little flatter than the normal Yorkshire landscape – ideal for exploring by bicycle or on foot. There are miles of trails and footpaths to suit every ability and interest; and the quiet country lanes are ideal for cyclists and horse riders. There are annual Triathlon and Duathlon events, and opportunities to fish, sail, off-road and golf.
