Fantastic welcome from landlord stopping in for a midday half. Utterly uspoiled traditonal pub in one of the most spectacular and remote areas of the Yorkshire Dales. The beer garden is one of the finest in the U.K, with hill views and beautifully kept flower beds on all sides. The only comparison to something this well-preserved is The Birch Hall Inn (Beck Hole) in the North York Moors.
What a place. Yes, it’s stepping back in time but to a time where people are friendly and interested. Bruce is real character, full of Yorkshire charm and wit. The Theakstons was amazing and the food hit the spot after a morning’s walk. Don’t go for glamour and sophistication (there’s plenty of that elsewhere in the Dales) but do go for slice of life you won’t experience anywhere else in modern Britain! If only more places were like this.
This is a truly special pub, full of character and charm. I enjoyed an excellent pint of Theakston Best, paired with a homemade stew. The landlord was exceptionally friendly and welcoming. The beer garden was a lovely bonus, spacious and inviting. A memorable visit all around.
A group of us stopped for lunch whilst walking the Inn Way between Kettlewell & West Burton. Had a lovely chat with the landlord and a couple of great pints of Theakstons, plus lunch in the beautiful sunny garden overlooking the fells.
Like stepping back into the 50s fine if you don't mind 50s cobwebs , two of the smallest cheese toasties ever they came on a plate , nothing else . Made with a small loaf of breed. A pint of beer , diet coke and two of the tiny cheese toasties £20 for cash 😂😂😂 you just have to go for the experience
