Melanie Clare

Working to maintain the long tradition of canal art on and around the waterways, Melanie adheres to the colours and motifs of this unique art form.  She specialises in decorative doors, panels and ancillary objects for boats and canal related items for the home.  Melanie is delighted to have been invited to contribute some typical canal art pieces to the Welcome to Yorkshire garden and has prepared a milk churn featuring a stylised Skipton Castle in the design, a pair of narrowboat cabin doors, a decorative panel with coat hooks which describes the Bingley Five Rise locks and some smaller items of “canalia”.  In the mind of the garden designer, these items have been collected by the lock keeper and displayed in and around his little office by the lock.
