It takes a huge effort and fantastic team to create the Welcome to Yorkshire Garden and we are incredibly grateful to all those that have played a part.

Yorkshire Dales National Park

The Yorkshire Dales has many moods; it can be wild and windswept or quietly tranquil.

It includes some of the finest limestone scenery in the UK, from crags and pavements to an underground labyrinth of caves. Each valley or 'dale' has its own distinct character, set against expansive heather moorland tops.

Stone-built villages sit amongst traditional farming landscapes of field barns, drystone walls and flower-rich hay meadows, and show how the area has been shaped over thousands of years by the people who have lived and worked here.

Spectacular waterfalls and ancient broadleaved woodland contrast with the scattered remains of former mine workings and other rural industries which remind us of the area's rich industrial heritage.

Together, nature and people have created a special landscape of immense beauty and character.

Wensleydale Creamery

Yorkshire Wensleydale cheese is creamy, crumbly & full of flavour.  It is protected with European Protected Food Name Status (PGI), and is the only Wensleydale cheese that is actually made in Wensleydale.

Steeped in heritage & provenance, Yorkshire Wensleydale cheese has a history dating back to 1150, when French Cistercian monks settled in Wensleydale and started making cheese.  Today, The Wensleydale Creamery proudly continues the art of handcrafting Yorkshire Wensleydale cheese to a time-honoured recipe in the market town of Hawes in Wensleydale, in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales National Park.  Using the Creamery’s own cheese-making starter cultures, and milk from over 40 local farms, together with the skills of its master cheese-makers which have been passed down through generations, the result is a Yorkshire Wensleydale cheese with a unique taste & flavour that cannot be matched.
