The Henry Moore Institute, The Hepworth Wakefield, Leeds Art Gallery and Yorkshire Sculpture Park are only a 30-minute drive, bus or train ride from each other. Which means you can enjoy an afternoon, a day or a weekend at all four great venues during a year of world-class exhibitions.

The Yorkshire Sculpture Triangle outlines an ambitious plan to make Yorkshire the European Capital for sculpture and it build’s on the county’s unique sculpture heritage as the birthplace of two of the most important 20th Century sculptors, Barbara Hepworth and Henry Moore.

Graculus Sculptures, Reeth

Michael Kusz is a Yorkshire-based sculptor who uses inventive welding techniques to transform old copper into unique and often quirkily humorous artworks. His sculptures of animals and birds – everything from a five-inch butterfly to a nine-foot phoenix – are bursting with life and energy, and reflect his passion for materials, his keen sense of form and texture, and his keen sense of fun.

Bolton Abbey

Newby Hall Gardens

Newby Hall Gardens near Ripon feature an amazing Sculpture Trail weaving it’s way through the 25-acres of award-winning gardens. 

Yorkshire Sculpture Park

Yorkshire Sculpture Park near Wakefield is a centre of international importance for creation, exhibition and appreciation of modern and contemporary sculpture. The magnificent vistas over the valley, lakes and gardens provide a rich environment for the best examples of sculpture by international artists, including Barbara Hepworth and Henry Moore.

Harlow Carr RHS gardens

Harlow Carr RHS gardens in Harrogate feature some unusual garden sculptures to explore, including willow pirate ships, giant owls and the log dragon.

Stillingfleet Lodge Gardens

Stillingfleet Lodge Gardens has a number of interesting sculptures in the garden by local artists and every Summer hosts a sculpture exhibition in the garden. 

The Hepworth

The Hepworth Wakefield is an amazing attraction that was designed by acclaimed British architect, David Chipperfield. Expect to see unseen collections of sculptures by Barbara Hepworth, along with world-class gallery spaces that offer a vibrant social space with a café serving locally sourced food, education spaces for learning activities and a programme of film screenings, talks and events to complement the exhibition programme and art collection.

Dales Countryside Museum

Dales Countryside Museum has an outdoor sculpture trail that is an added attraction for visitors to Hawes. Featuring the artwork of Yorkshire craftspeople, the Hidden Secrets Sculpture Trail allows people of all ages to explore and appreciate the area’s wildlife, culture, landscape and built heritage of the Dales. An area has been landscaped and made wheelchair and pushchair friendly for families to enjoy the outdoors and a range of information points interpret the history of the area from prehistoric times onwards. The different themes are interpreted by QR codes that can be read on smart phones and also in a leaflet.

The Himalayan Garden & Sculpture Park

The Himalayan Garden & Sculpture Park is home to more than 70 striking contemporary sculptures, showcased in a tranquil valley setting. The park covers 45 acres of stunningly beautiful woodland, gardens and an arboretum; enhanced by 3 lakes,and a number of features including a Himalayan Shelter, Pagoda, Summerhouse, decorative Bridges and a Contemplation Circle (consisting of five chairs carved from Giant Redwood).

Coming in June this year, over 100 days, with 4 galleries, across 2 cities. The festival is free and open to all and will showcase sculpture in all its forms.
