For a roar-some day out, look no further than Hull’s Dinostar to hear a raptor roar, touch triceratops bones and see a T-Rex skull!
Set in a small building in the developing Fruit Market creative quarter, Yorkshire’s only dedicated dinosaur attraction was officially opened by Sir Tony Robinson of Time Team and Blackadder fame in June 2004. Since then the museum has grown to include dinosaurs from around the world.
Highlights of the exhibition are full-size Tyrannosaurus rex and Triceratops skulls, dinosaur bones you can touch and numerous interactive, child-friendly exhibits.
New for 2019 is an interactive sand box where visitors can make dinosaur landscapes and even build a volcano!
The museum is very much designed with children and families in mind. Exhibits can be touched, buttons can be pressed and young palaeontologists can dig for dinosaur bones in sand or try their hand at fossil rubbing.
The collection also includes original models from the Walking with Dinosaurs and Walking with Beasts TV series.
Budding geologists can follow the clues in the kids’ trail to find the different dinosaurs, earning stamps as they go.
Dinostar is a complete sensory experience, with opportunities to see, touch, hear and even smell what the dinosaur age might have been like.
The unique Dinosaur Sound Box is not to be missed, along with the smelling boxes featuring swamp and volcano scents among the odd odours!
A final stop-off in the gift shop for genuine and replica fossils provides a great end to a dino-tastic day out.
