This summer, the Settle will once again be transformed by the imaginative Settle Flowerpot Festival, running from 13 July to 1 September 2025.
The festival has become a much-anticipated summer tradition, attracting families and day-trippers to wander through winding streets in search of brilliantly bizarre flowerpot creations. More than 200 displays are expected this year, assembled from over 4,000 flowerpots — many recycled or donated by the local community.

What makes this festival truly stand out isn’t just the scale, but the humour and creativity on display. Past years have featured flowerpot firemen and musicians — this year, visitors can expect to spot Fred Dibnah climbing a chimney, a bishop scaling the church tower, and even Henry VIII keeping company with a headless Anne Boleyn.
Elsewhere, Admiral Nelson (missing an arm, of course) will be honoured in a tribute from Nelson’s Footwear, and the town’s famous Naked Man Café will be, quite literally, interpreted in flowerpot form. Characters from Paw Patrol and Wallace & Gromit will also make appearances, ensuring the festival remains a hit with younger visitors too.
Trail sheets will help visitors navigate beyond the market square to discover hidden installations tucked into alleyways and corners many wouldn’t usually explore.
Festival organiser Richard Handscombe of Settle Flowerpot Festival CIC said:
“The festival is a real celebration of creativity and community. It’s also a free day out, and we’re proud it brings in around 20,000 visitors each year to support local shops, cafés and accommodation.”
With its winning mix of scenic beauty, artistic flair and gentle humour, the Settle Flowerpot Festival is a joyful reason to visit the Dales this summer.
