One of Yorkshire’s most vibrant and picturesque attractions is getting ready to bloom once again. The Flower Belt, a beloved pick-your-own flower experience on the edge of Helmsley, is preparing to open its gates for what promises to be its biggest wildflower season yet.
Following a record-breaking 2024, the team behind the family-run attraction has expanded the wildflower meadow to meet growing demand. When the gates open on Saturday 19 July, visitors will be able to explore 7.5 acres of wildflowers – up from 5 acres last year – with more space to roam, more colour to admire, and a few new surprises along the way.
What began as a small family project has quickly become one of North Yorkshire’s favourite summer destinations. Perched just outside the popular market town of Helmsley and offering panoramic views of the North York Moors National Park, The Flower Belt attracts families, couples, photographers and flower-lovers alike, all looking to slow down, breathe in the scent of summer, and take home a handpicked bouquet.
Owner Henry Wainwright says:
“Last year was our busiest yet, and we were blown away by the response. We’ve expanded again this year to give people more space and time to enjoy the flowers, and we’ve got a few new things for visitors to discover too.”
While full details of this year’s additions are still under wraps, guests can expect an even more immersive countryside experience. Alongside the wildflowers, The Flower Belt features an on-site bar, wood-fired pizza oven, and an atmosphere that’s as relaxed and friendly as the surrounding landscape.
Visitors can also stop by The Silo Shop, a converted farm store filled with handmade gifts and seasonal goods, or take a break at The Honey Tap, serving barista coffee, artisan teas, homemade bakes, and refreshing drinks.
Open seasonally, The Flower Belt is more than just a flower field — it’s a celebration of rural life and natural beauty. The farm evolves with the seasons: tulips in spring, wildflowers and sunflowers in summer, and a popular pumpkin patch in autumn.
